Whitepaper: State of corporate merch in Mexico 2026

This editorial whitepaper, prepared by the Corp-Merch.MX team with public data from SAT, INEGI, AMVO, ANTAD and COMCE, offers a panoramic view of the corporate merch market in Mexico at the close of the first half of 2026. It covers market size by sector, channel distribution, production and import trends, fiscal and regulatory framework, IMMEX and foreign trade, logistics and projections to 2027. The full version is delivered as a downloadable PDF for those who complete the form at the bottom of this page. Reading time is twenty-five to thirty minutes.

What the whitepaper covers

The whitepaper is organized in eight chapters that move from the macro picture to the operational details. Chapter 1 sizes the market and breaks it down by sector: manufacturing, financial services, retail, hospitality, technology, education, government and NGOs. Chapter 2 looks at the channel split between direct purchase from workshops, distribution through promotional product agencies, e-commerce platforms and offshore production. Chapter 3 maps the regulatory environment: CFDI 4.0, Carta Porte 3.0, the foreign trade complement, the LFPDPPP privacy framework and the NOM standards that apply to uniforms and textile products.

Chapter 4 covers IMMEX as it is used by maquiladoras and exporters, with examples of temporary import, return in the same state and definitive export. Chapter 5 looks at logistics: ground freight, air freight, maritime freight and the role of Laredo-Nuevo Laredo as the main border crossing. Chapter 6 covers sustainability: the rise of recycled materials, organic cotton, water-based inks, compostable packaging and the ESG reporting that corporates increasingly demand. Chapter 7 maps the 2026 trends: import substitution from Asia, mass personalization, the role of Mexican workshops, the consolidation of the sector and the entry of new digital tooling. Chapter 8 projects the market to 2027 with three scenarios based on tariff policy, consumer demand and the regulatory environment.

Highlights from the first half of 2026

Five findings stand out. The first is that the corporate merch market in Mexico grew an estimated 11% in the first half of 2026 versus the same period of 2025, driven by the manufacturing sector in northern Mexico and the financial sector in CDMX. The second is that import substitution from Asia accelerated: roughly 22% of the volume that was previously sourced from China moved to Mexican workshops in the first half of the year, with apparel and drinkware leading the shift.

The third is that the Guadalupe-Reyes season accounted for 36% of the year-end merch volume, slightly above the historical 33 to 35% range, signaling that corporates are concentrating their year-end spend in merch rather than in events. The fourth is that LFPDPPP compliance among merch suppliers remains low: only an estimated 18% of the workshops in the country have a public privacy notice and a signed data processing agreement template, leaving the rest of the sector exposed to regulatory action. The fifth is that the median order volume per corporate dropped 14%, reflecting a move from annual bulk purchases to more frequent, smaller orders tied to specific campaigns.

How to use the whitepaper

The whitepaper is designed to be read once and then consulted. Each chapter stands on its own, with its own figures and sources. The PDF includes the data tables in CSV format so that you can run your own analysis. We include a glossary of terms, an annex with the regulatory references and a list of the public sources we used. The PDF is free, requires only a work email and does not include sales material; the data is what matters.

Companies that want to discuss the findings with our team, request a custom analysis based on the data, or commission a follow-up whitepaper on a specific subsector can reach us through the form at the bottom of this page. We do not sell the data and we do not share the email addresses with third parties; the only follow-up communication is the whitepaper itself plus, optionally, the next edition.
