Company anniversary: the book, the time capsule and the gala that separate a Mexican company from those that are forgotten in five years

The company anniversary —10, 50 or 75 years since the founding of the corporate— functions as the only moment where the Mexican corporate allows itself to look behind without the guilt of not looking ahead. A 25th anniversary without a commemorative book stays at a dinner with the CEO's speech and the group photo at the hotel vestibule; a 50th anniversary without a time capsule loses the opportunity to seal the decisions of the last half-century in a physical object that the next CEO will open when none of the current ones are still on the board. The professional celebration runs on five layers we hold in workshop: the commemorative book edited and bound in leather, the time capsule in steel with notary seal, the documentary film edited with historical archive, the gala with engraved table pieces and curated gift, and the recognition piece for the founder or heir. We work with corporates in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Querétaro, Tijuana and Mérida. Invoicing through CFDI 4.0 to SAT, 16% VAT, deductible as Corporate Governance, Institutional Relations or Historic Heritage expense.

Five company anniversary milestones

10 years — first decade closed

96 to 144-page commemorative book with the company's history from founding, product milestones, market critical moments, founding teams and the vision for the following decade. Bound in leather with gold seal on the cover, security paper and professional photography from the historical archive. 18 to 25-minute documentary film with interviews of founders, pioneer employees and key clients. Gala dinner with 200 attendees, table pieces engraved with the anniversary and standard gift (Citizen watch, Parker pen, handcrafted ceramic mug).

25 years — first generation closed

180 to 240-page commemorative book with expanded historical archive, interviews with three leadership generations, 25-year sector comparison, timelines crossed with Mexico's economic history under NAFTA and USMCA. Bound in premium leather with exposed stitching and engraved metal plate with edition number. Time capsule in stainless steel with notary seal, content decided by the board, opening scheduled for the 50th anniversary. 35 to 45-minute documentary film for presentation at the gala.

50 years — half-century closed

320 to 480-page commemorative book with historical research in public archives (AGN, National Library newsroom, corporate archive), oral interviews with founders and heirs, sector and country comparison. Bound in calfskin with hand stitching, metal plate with corporate shield and silk marker ribbon. Notary-sealed time capsule with foundational documents, 50th anniversary strategic plan and gift for the next CEO. 50 to 60-minute documentary film produced with guest director.

75 and 100 years — institutional life

480 to 720-page commemorative book with complete historical research, restored archive, corporate timeline against the country's economic cycles. Bound in calf or kid leather, hand stitching, metal plate with corporate heraldic shield, silk marker ribbon. Time capsule in steel with notary and board chair seal. 75 to 90-minute documentary film with cinematic production. Recognition piece for the founder or heir: bronze bust, oil portrait, commissioned art piece.

Book editing, gift curation and gala

The commemorative book editing is built with the Institutional Communications team, the corporate historian or the external historian hired for the research. The process starts with archive curation (photographs, letters, financial statements, strategic plans, press clippings, official letters) that is digitised at high resolution and preserved on encrypted disk. The writing is done by the historian with support from internal communications and is delivered in three rounds: white draft, draft with photography and press version. Translation to English and French (when there is international expansion) is done in parallel with a certified translator. The binding is quoted separately with an artisanal binding workshop experienced in art books.

Gift curation for the gala is built with the Comp&Ben team and the anniversary committee. For attendees with monthly base salary up to MXN 25,000 we run gifts from MXN 1,800 to 6,000: Casio or Citizen watch, Parker pen, Sony or Bose headphones, handcrafted ceramic mug from Tonalá, anniversary book. For attendees with monthly base salary MXN 25,000 to 60,000 we run gifts from MXN 6,000 to 22,000: Tissot or Fossil watch, Montblanc pen, anniversary book in limited edition, Tumi luggage.

For attendees with monthly base salary above MXN 60,000 we run gifts from MXN 22,000 to 120,000: Tag Heuer or Longines watch, limited-edition Montblanc pen, contemporary Mexican art piece, European trip with paid stay, jewellery piece with anniversary engraving. The gift ships with no visible price to avoid comparisons between attendees and is documented with a personalised letter on hot-stamped card stock signed by the CEO and the board chair.

Film production, gala and archive handling

The documentary film production is coordinated with a guest director, film crew and editor. Pre-production starts with archive research and interview script, approved by the anniversary committee. Production happens on location (offices, plants, historical retail locations) with cinema lighting and camera equipment. Post-production includes editing, scoring, colour grading and mastering for gala format (4K projection on 6 m × 4 m LED screen). The film ships on encrypted disk and is published on the corporate intranet with restricted access by levels.

The gala is set up with the hotel maître and the event production team. The room is dressed with floral arrangements in corporate tone, embroidered table linen with the anniversary shield, table pieces with the founding year engraving, architectural lighting with focus on the head table and dance floor with live orchestra or selected DJ. Seating is assigned with the protocol team and entrance to the event is documented with official photography and video. The gala is broadcast on closed circuit to corporate offices in other countries (when applicable).

Historical archive handling complies with the Federal Archives Law and the LFPDPPP: the photographs, documents and testimonies are used solely for the anniversary book and film, are not shared with third parties without authorisation from the anniversary committee, are preserved on encrypted disk with off-site backup and are deleted from our systems 5 years after the event. The anniversary committee may request indefinite preservation of the archive through written agreement and signature of the board chair. Invoicing is issued through CFDI 4.0 to SAT with 16% VAT breakdown, ISR withholding when applicable for taxed gifts, and deduction support as Corporate Governance, Institutional Relations or Historic Heritage expense.

Frequently asked questions

Can you research at the Archivo General de la Nación (AGN)?

Yes — for corporates over 50 years, historical research covers the AGN, the National Library newsroom, the corporate historical archive and regional archives (Public Library of Nuevo León, Guadalajara Newsroom, Puebla Historical Archive). Access is managed with a certified researcher and documented with provenance record for each document or photograph used.

Can you coordinate with an external historian?

Yes — we run a network of historians specialised in Mexican business history with experience in 20th-century founder corporates (brewery, textiles, banking, food). The historian is selected by sector experience and hired under NDA for archive confidentiality. The selection is approved by the anniversary committee.

Can you handle the time capsule with notary seal?

Yes — we coordinate with a public notary for the time capsule sealing. The capsule closes in solemn session before the notary and the anniversary committee, seals with wax signed by the notary and is documented with public deed stating the contents, depositaries and opening date. The capsule is preserved in a bank vault until the scheduled opening date.

Is Corp-Merch an official partner of any historian or corporate?

No. Corp-Merch.MX is an independent workshop for production of company anniversary kits for Mexican corporates. The historians, notaries and providers referenced appear for descriptive purposes only.
