Sustainable merch strategy
Sustainability in merchandise is usually reduced to a material claim on a product page, and a material claim is the weakest possible link in a sustainability report. The strategy on this page is built the other way round: what can actually be evidenced, what has to be measured rather than asserted, and which decisions reduce impact instead of merely describing it.
Four levers, in order of effect
Duration first. A garment that survives five years of washing has a better environmental profile than a cheaper one that is discarded after two seasons, whatever the fibre. Longevity is a specification decision: fabric weight, stitch construction, colour choice and decoration method all affect it, and all of them are made before production.
Material, evidenced. Recycled and certified materials exist and are worth specifying, but the claim has to travel with documentation — a certificate that names the supplier and the batch. An unevidenced claim is worse than no claim, because a report built on it fails at audit.
Take-back and recovery. For corporate uniforms and event kits, a collection and recovery process at the end of a programme is what turns a linear purchase into a documented circularity rate. It needs to be designed at the start of the programme, not improvised when the boxes arrive.
Logistics. Consolidation, regional delivery instead of national, and production routing are frequently larger levers than the fibre, and they cost nothing to improve.
What we will and will not claim
- We will state a material claim only with a document. Certificate first, claim second.
- We will not use recycled content as a default. It changes the specification and often the price; it has to be chosen.
- We will measure recovery rates. Returned, reused and destroyed quantities reported separately.
- We will not present an estimate as a measurement. A modelled figure is labelled as modelled.
- We will tell you when a sustainable option does not fit. The brief comes first.
- We are not an auditor. Nothing here verifies anybody else’s claim.
Every sustainability page
One page in this section, the strategy described above.
What we are not
Corp-Merch.MX is an independent production workshop for corporate merch, uniforms and business gifting, invoicing to SAT under CFDI 4.0. We are not a certification body, an environmental auditor or a standards organisation, and nothing on this page is an environmental certification, a lifecycle assessment or a verified claim about any supplier. We are not an official partner, sponsor or approved supplier of any certification body or material brand named here.
Plan a sustainable programme
Tell us what you need to evidence and by when — a client questionnaire, a report, an internal policy. We will tell you which parts can be documented for this order and which cannot, before anything is produced.
