The Lagoon of Seven Colours, a southern Pueblo Mágico
Bacalar is a locality in the municipality of the same name in southern Quintana Roo, 40 kilometres north of Chetumal. The Bacalar Lagoon — known internationally as the Lagoon of Seven Colours for the variations of blue, turquoise and white produced by the different depths and the cenotes that feed it — is Mexico's second-largest freshwater body after Lake Chapala, running 55 kilometres long with an average depth of 15 metres. The cabecera municipal was declared a Pueblo Mágico in 2007, and the San Felipe Fort, built in 1729 to defend the frontier against English attacks, is one of the peninsula's most important historic monuments.
Access is via Carretera Federal 307 from Chetumal (40 minutes), Tulum (3 hours) or Mérida (5 hours). The closest airport is Chetumal (IATA: CTM), with flights from Mexico City and Belize City. Bacalar has a community of around 12,000 residents and receives close to 600,000 visitors a year across domestic, European, Canadian and US tourists. The formal economy runs on ecotourism, kayak and boat tours, boutique hotels, glampings, wellness retreats and a small gastronomy sector with strong regional identity.
Lagoon, cenotes and kayak and boat tour operators
The Bacalar Lagoon runs a network of public and private docks offering boat tours, kayak, paddleboard and snorkel. Authorised operators — Bacalar Tours, Whale Tours, Los Rapidos Bacalar, Kayak Bacalar, Cenotes Bacalar — order instructor-graded quick-dry polos, UV rashguards, waterproof backpacks and personalised equipment sets. The operation depends on weather, water levels and the lagoon system's tide windows.
The cenotes connected to the lagoon system — Cocalitos (with its stromatolites, living structures declared Geological Heritage), Azul, Esmeralda, Negro, la Poza Azul — receive snorkel and dive groups. For guides and dive centres we handle instructor-graded polos, identification kits and Mayan-anchored gift sets. The Bala'an K'aax state reserve protects the jungle surrounding the lagoon and limits certain operations — we work with authorised operators respecting the quotas and access windows.
Pueblo Mágico, the San Felipe Fort and the historic centre
The Bacalar centre runs a small malecón, a central plaza, the San Felipe Fort (which houses the Piracy Museum) and the San Joaquín Church. The Pueblo Mágico supports an artisan community producing embroidered textiles, palm basketry, silver jewellery with Mayan motifs, artisan soaps and wax candles. For the artisans and the local cooperative we handle premium artisan-anchored packaging, engraved wooden boxes and gift sets that meet export requirements when the product crosses the border.
The Secretaría de Turismo de Quintana Roo and the municipal tourism office order polos for promotion campaigns, press kits for familiarisation trips (FAM trips) and gifts for tour operators at fairs. The Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística runs careful merch for press trips and inspection tours. The centre's restaurants — Los Hechizos, El Manatí, Kiosko Pizza, El Sutil — order staff polos, branded souvenir kits and client gift sets.
Boutique hotels, glampings and wellness retreats
Bacalar runs a curated set of five-star boutique hotels — Casa Bacalar, Casa Corazón, Hotel Amainah, Rancho Encantado, Tikil Watal, Boca de Agua — that handle incentive groups, corporate retreats and small destination weddings. For them we run monogram-embroidered polos, welcome kits with a jute tote bag, engraved farewell gifts, bamboo bathroom sets and tiered staff uniforms (concierge, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen). The hotels' scale asks for considered merch rather than mass production.
The glampings and wellness retreats — Glamping Bacalar, Aldea Canzul, Casa Sol, Treehouse Bacalar — run their own branded merch: GOTS-certified organic cotton polos when the brand demands the seal, engraved glassware sets, compostable packaging and seed-paper notebooks. Yoga and meditation retreats run specific merch for weekend programs and corporate events. If your brief includes quantity, date and venue (lagoon, Fort, cenote, dock, boutique hotel, glamping, retreat), we'll walk through it and ground it in production.

Southern Quintana Roo logistics and delivery
Our operation covers Bacalar, the historic centre, the Lagoon, the cenotes, Chetumal and the southern corridor down to the Belize border. Production leaves our central workshop and arrives via road freight at the Chetumal consolidator, where it ships on Highway 307 to Bacalar. Standard lead times: 10 to 15 business days for production plus 3 to 5 days for delivery in Bacalar.
For urgent orders we keep base inventory of organic-cotton white polos in S to XXL, caps, backpacks and engraved tumblers with 5 to 7 business-day express turnaround. The supply chain depends on the weather and the events calendar (Lago en Concierto, Festival de Música Acuática Bacalar, Mayan ceremonies at the cenotes). We'll walk through it with you and adjust the flow to the destination's operating reality.
