Webinar: sustainability in corporate merch

Technical session on recycled materials, applicable certifications, documentary traceability and ESG reporting for corporate customers who incorporate sustainability criteria into their merch programme. One hour with room for questions.

Webinar objective

The sustainability webinar aims to help corporate customers with documented ESG commitment — or who are structuring their strategy — understand what materials, certifications and processes are available at the workshop for their merch programme. We cover the most relevant certifications — GRS, GOTS, FSC, ISO 14001, Rainforest Alliance — and how they translate into verifiable documentary evidence.

The approach is technical and operational: we show how recycled material percentage is measured, how traceability is verified from origin to finished product, and how the information is incorporated into the customer's ESG report. The session also addresses carbon offsets, compostable materials and reuse and refill schemes that some corporate customers are exploring.

Detailed syllabus

The webinar is divided into eight blocks. Block 1: corporate ESG commitment overview in Mexico and Latin America. Block 2: available recycled materials — GRS cotton, recycled polyester from PET bottles, recycled nylon, recycled plastic, recycled stainless steel. Block 3: low-impact materials — bamboo, vegetable leather, FSC-certified paper.

Block 4: applicable certifications — what they cover, what they don't cover, how they are verified. Block 5: documentary traceability per batch, supplier and material. Block 6: carbon offsets and verified projects. Block 7: reuse, refill and compostable packaging schemes. Block 8: questions and answers with the workshop's technical team.

Materials covered in detail

Materials covered in the webinar include GRS-certified recycled cotton — Global Recycled Standard — with third-party verification, recycled polyester from PET bottles for backpacks, thermos bottles and accessories, recycled nylon for technical backpacks and travel accessories, recycled plastic for pens and USB drives, recycled stainless steel for bottles and mugs, bamboo for pens and office articles, vegetable leather from apple, pineapple and cactus residues, FSC-certified paper for stationery and packaging.

For each material we explain the origin, the transformation process, applicable certifications, MOQ and lead time. The session also covers the difference between recycled material, organic material and low-impact material, and how they combine in a single piece when the customer requires it.

Certifications explained

Certifications covered in the webinar are five. GRS — Global Recycled Standard: applies to products with at least twenty per cent recycled material; verifies recycled content, chain of custody and social and environmental practices. GOTS — Global Organic Textile Standard: applies to textiles with at least seventy per cent organic fibre; verifies organic content, chemical processes and labour conditions.

FSC — Forest Stewardship Council: applies to paper and cardboard products with wood from responsibly managed forests; verifies chain of custody. ISO 14001: applies to the workshop's environmental management system; verifies continuous improvement in environmental impact. Rainforest Alliance: applies to agricultural ingredients such as coffee, cocoa and vanilla; verifies sustainable agricultural practices.

Documentary traceability per batch

Documentary traceability is one of the critical points for customers with ESG commitment. For each delivered batch we deliver the following documentation: technical sheet with description, composition, recycled material percentage and applicable certifications; certificate of material origin; certificate of chain of custody where applicable; laboratory test report when the customer requests it for textiles; and conformity declaration signed by the workshop owner.

Documentation is delivered in PDF format signed by the workshop owner and kept for at least five years per regulation. For customers with external audit scheme the documentation is delivered in customer format and coordinated with their compliance area. Per-batch traceability allows the customer to verify the origin of each material and report it in their own sustainability reports.

Carbon offset schemes

For customers seeking carbon neutrality in their merch programme we work with verified offset projects — reforestation, conservation, renewable energy — in the destination or region of the customer's operation. The offset is calculated based on the product's carbon footprint — materials, manufacturing, transport — and documented with the verifier project's certificate.

Projects we work with are certified under recognised standards — Verra VCS, Gold Standard, CAR — and the customer chooses the project that best aligns with their ESG strategy. The offset is reported as part of the customer's sustainability report and communicated to stakeholders as part of the carbon neutrality commitment.

FAQ — sustainability webinar block

What is the MOQ of recycled materials?

MOQ varies by line. GRS recycled textile: one hundred units. Recycled PET polyester: two hundred units. FSC stationery: fifty units. Mexican beverage: twenty-four sets. Contact us about your project.

Do certifications have additional cost?

GRS, GOTS and FSC certifications are passed to the customer as a small percentage over the certified raw material price. Documentary traceability and ESG reporting are included at no additional cost.

Can you offset the carbon footprint?

Yes. We work with verified projects under Verra VCS, Gold Standard and CAR. The customer chooses the project and we manage the offset and documentation.

Does the session cover technical textiles?

Yes. We cover technical textiles with recycled materials for plant uniforms, sportswear and technical merch. Personalisation techniques adapt to recycled materials.

The sustainability webinar is an informative session on the materials, certifications and processes available at the workshop at the time of recording.
