Salon G-9: the warehouse where three models are unveiled simultaneously and the merch has to land at the assembly line before the press does
Salon G-9 occupies a converted industrial warehouse on the Mexico-Toluca federal highway, in the Interlomas industrial corridor. It is a 600-square-metre double-height (8-metre) space with a bridge crane for moving vehicles, two indoor test tracks with polished-concrete floor, an 80-guest VIP room overlooking the track, an 8-ton freight elevator with restricted hours, and a freight dock that accepts 40-ton trailers. Inside these walls the OEMs with Bajio plants have unveiled the new generations of pickup trucks they build for the Mexican market and for US export under USMCA, the leasing companies have rolled out the commercial fleets they buy for their corporate clients, the battery manufacturers headquartered in CDMX have launched their electric vehicles nationally, the tier-1 suppliers have tested their level-3 autonomy prototypes with the Ministry of Mobility, and the Coyoacan and Polanco design studios have presented their concept cars to the global brand committees. What separates Salon G-9 from a comparable reveal hall is that the Bajio plant assembly line receives the merch 72 hours before the press event.
