Custom printed t-shirts in Mexico

The most-deployed piece of corporate apparel in Mexico. Printed cotton tees anchor trade-show programs at Centro Citibanamex and WTC CDMX, onboarding kits for the Bajío OEM belt, December aguinaldo gifting from Polanco HQs, and the recurring roadshow uniform of BTL agencies across Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mérida. We decorate imported blanks and Mexican-made circular knit alike, in screen, DTF, DTG and embroidery — billed in MXN with IVA 16%, invoiced under CFDI 4.0.

Why the printed tee still wins in Mexico

For unit cost, print real estate and post-event wardrobe retention, nothing beats the ringspun cotton tee. A well-stamped cotton tee hangs in the recipient's closet for twelve to twenty-four months on average; a poorly-made poly blend usually ends up discarded within two weeks. The differentiator is the blank itself — yarn, gauge, weight, neck rib and shoulder tape — and how the decoration holds up after forty industrial washes.

We work the standard catalogue that Mexican purchasing teams already recognise: Gildan Heavy Cotton for the budget-led uniform program, Gildan Softstyle and Bella+Canvas 3001 for the ringspun mid-tier that most corporate brands settle on, Anvil for the fashion cuts, and Next Level 3600 for the tri-blend fashion collections. Where ESG policy demands higher domestic or recycled content, we route through the cut-and-sew shops in Atlacomulco, Tehuacán and Mérida for Mexican-made circular knit — Hecho en México claim, longer lead time, but a different USMCA regional value calculation that helps the buyer's parent group on cross-border declarations.

What goes into a Mexican printed-t-shirt quote

Blank and yarn construction

Open-end cotton at 160–180 GSM is the entry tier. Ringspun combed at 180–220 GSM is the working standard. Organic cotton (GOTS) and recycled-polyester (GRS) blends push the unit price 20–45% higher. Mexican-made circular knit carries the Hecho en México claim and unlocks a different USMCA calculation but adds 3–4 weeks lead time.

Cut and silhouette

Unisex classic is the corporate workhorse. Fitted women's cuts add 10–15% to the blank. Oversize, drop-shoulder and fashion cuts cost more and run on different size charts — we typically recommend unisex classic for compliance programs and reserve fashion fits for marketing-led campaigns.

Print technique and run size

Screen printing (serigrafía) is economical from 50 units and handles 1–4 spot-color logos with maximum durability. DTF (direct-to-film) handles photorealistic artwork and small runs from 10 units. DTG handles per-unit variable data for one-off name prints. Embroidery works on heavier knits and carries the premium look.

Print locations and Pantone matching

Single-location (left chest or center back) is standard. Two-location (chest + back) is the typical event wear. Inside-collar, sleeve and hem prints raise setup cost. We confirm Pantone within Delta-E 2.5 of the master before production run.

Pricing, MOQ, lead time and where we print

MXN pricing before IVA 16%. Standard MOQ is 50 units for decorated imports, 100 units for Mexican-made circular knit. Volume breaks at 100 / 250 / 500 / 1,000 / 2,500 / 5,000 units, with up to 30% off from 1,000 units. Standard lead time 7–10 working days after proof approval; rush 3–5 days carries a +30% surcharge. Mexican cut-and-sew 3–4 weeks regardless of rush.

Decoration hubs split by technique: serigrafía and DTF in Iztapalapa and Gustavo A. Madero for CDMX volume; bordado in Tlalnepantla, Naucalpan and León for the Bajío OEM belt; DTG on-demand in Polanco and Condesa for the agency and marketing agency segment. Sublimated polyester performance jerseys run through the Guadalajara and Querétaro sports-apparel corridor. Cross-border drops to Laredo and El Paso file USMCA supplier declarations.

For US parent groups buying through their Mexican subsidiary, we invoice in MXN via SPEI; for US headquarters buying directly, we invoice in USD via wire with the IVA 16% line shown separately for acreditamiento where applicable. EU parent groups route through their Mexican entidad legal on a transfer-pricing basis.

Where printed tees actually end up in Mexico

Volume splits across four programs. Plant uniform for the Bajío OEM belt — Nissan Aguascalientes, GM Silao, BMW San Luis Potosí, VW Puebla, Stellantis Saltillo, Toyota Guanajuato — runs 5,000–25,000 units per model year, mixing ringspun tees for line workers with polos for white-collar staff. Trade-show apparel at Citibanamex, WTC CDMX, Expo Guadalajara, Cintermex and Centro de Convenciones de Mérida runs 200–800 units per show, often the same design reused across multiple events. Onboarding kits for the engineering graduate intake at IBM, Oracle, TCS, Globant and Wizeline run 100–400 units per quarter. December aguinaldo gifts from Polanco and Santa Fe HQs run ringspun cotton tees with soft-touch prints as part of the year-end client cycle.

The fabric and technique vary by program: ringspun cotton for the trade-show and aguinaldo gift, pique polos for the engineering onboarding kits, recycled-poly blend for the ESG program, performance polyester jerseys for the sports-sponsor segment (Liga MX teams, Formula México, NASCAR México).

FAQ — custom printed t-shirts in Mexico

What's the MOQ for printed t-shirts?

50 units for decorated imports, 100 units for Mexican-made circular knit. We ship a single decorated pre-production sample to your oficina before the full run begins.

Screen vs DTF — which technique should I pick?

Screen is more economical from 50+ units and handles spot-color logos with maximum wash durability. DTF is better for photorealistic artwork, small runs (10+), and complex multicolour designs. We recommend DTF for marketing-led campaigns and screen for high-volume uniform programs.

Do you include NOM-004 textile labels?

Yes — every garment that reaches a Mexican consumer or end-user carries a NOM-004 compliant care label in Spanish, with fibre content, country of origin, importer's RFC and domicilio fiscal. Bilingual EN/ES labels are standard for tees that ship to the US dealer network.

Do you ship USMCA-documented tees to Laredo?

Yes — we file the USMCA supplier declaration and preference criterion on every cross-border drop. Tees that walk out of a Silao plant for a US dealer event do not require re-invoicing in the US when the USMCA preference criterion is met.

Can sizes be split in one order?

Yes — Mexican corporate runs typically split S/M/L/XL/XXL with one or two extra units of M and L as replacements. We confirm the breakdown on the PO and ship against the size distribution you provide.
