Why mugs anchor the corporate gift box in Mexico

A mug gets used every working day for two to four years before it chips, leaks or disappears. Compared to a tee that lives in the recipient's gym bag or a notebook that lives in a drawer, a mug is the highest-frequency piece of corporate merchandise. For a Polanco office or a Santa Fe corporate HQ, the mug on the desk reads "this company sponsored my coffee" forty-eight weeks a year. For the December aguinaldo gift box, the mug is the anchor piece the rest of the box hangs off.

We work the standard ceramic catalogue — 11oz AA-grade porcelain, 15oz AA-grade porcelain, two-tone reactive-glaze stoneware, matte-glaze stoneware, latte glass, espresso cup, stainless travel mug with ceramic lining — and the Mexican ceramic corridor out of Toluca, Guadalajara and Puebla for the Hecho en México tier. Decoration runs in sublimation wrap-print (photorealistic, edge-to-edge), screen-printed decal (1–4 spot colours), laser engraving (stainless), and gold or platinum foil application (executive gift tier).

What goes into a Mexican mug quote

Pricing, MOQ, lead time and where we make them

MXN pricing before IVA 16%. Standard MOQ is 36 units (one case) for decorated imports, 72 units for Mexican-cut ceramic. Volume breaks at 72 / 144 / 288 / 576 / 1,152 units, with up to 35% off from 1,152 units. Standard lead time 7–10 working days; rush 4–6 days carries a +35% surcharge. Mexican ceramic hand-glaze is 4–5 weeks regardless of rush.

Decoration hubs: sublimation and decal in Iztapalapa, Gustavo A. Madero and Naucalpan for the CDMX print runs. Laser engraving in Tlalnepantla and León. Hand-painted rim work in the Toluca and Puebla artisan corridor. Cross-border drops to Laredo file the USMCA supplier declaration; the same mug that walks out of a Silao plant for a US dealer event does not require re-invoicing in the US when the preference criterion is met.

For US parent groups buying through their Mexican subsidiary, we invoice in MXN via SPEI; for US headquarters buying directly, we invoice in USD via wire with the IVA 16% line shown for acreditamiento where applicable.

Where Mexican mugs actually end up

Mug volume splits across five programs. December aguinaldo gift boxes from Polanco and Santa Fe HQs run 200–2,000 units per client, usually a stainless travel mug or reactive-glaze stoneware with a foil or laser detail. Trade-show giveaways at Centro Citibanamex, WTC CDMX, Expo Guadalajara, Cintermex and the Expo Banamex circuit run 500–3,000 units per show, usually 11oz sublimation. Engineering onboarding kits at IBM, Oracle, TCS, Globant and Wizeline run 100–400 units per quarter. Hotel welcome kits at the Four Seasons, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Live Aqua and Hard Rock hotel chain run 50–300 units per property. Café and restaurant branded merch at the Starbucks, Cielito Querido Café, Punta Cometa and Café de Tacuba partner programs run 1,000–5,000 units per quarter.

The glaze and decoration vary by program: 11oz gloss sublimation for the trade-show and café segment, 15oz matte for the aguinaldo gift tier, reactive-glaze stoneware for the artisan and lifestyle segment, stainless travel mug for the executive tier.
