State of the Mexican merch industry 2026
The snapshot of the Mexican corporate merch industry at the close of Q3 2026. Installed capacity, prices per line, available materials, sectors with the highest demand and the trends projected for 2027.
Installed capacity and geographic distribution
The Mexican corporate merch industry maintains its centre of gravity in CDMX, Guadalajara and Monterrey, with extensions towards the Bajío — Querétaro, León, Irapuato — and towards the north — Chihuahua, Saltillo, Tijuana. Installed capacity is distributed among family workshops with three to twenty employees, medium workshops with twenty to one hundred employees, and corporates with one hundred to five hundred employees. Average idle capacity at the close of H1 2026 was twenty per cent, with higher values in the Bajío and lower values in CDMX.
Service offerings concentrate in sublimation, embroidery, screen print, pad printing, laser engraving and heat transfer. Digital techniques — DTF, DTG — have gained share due to their flexibility for small and personalised runs. Customisation with engraved leather and premium finishes remains a differentiator for corporate customers.
Prices per product line
Average prices per product line during 2026 fall in the following ranges. Cotton shirts: 120 to 280 MXN per unit before IVA, depending on weight, customisation technique and volume. Quick-dry technical shirts: 220 to 480 MXN. Caps: 95 to 240 MXN. Hoodies: 380 to 720 MXN. Backpacks: 280 to 850 MXN depending on material.
Notebooks: 75 to 320 MXN depending on cover, sheets and finishes. Engraved pens: 18 to 95 MXN. Ceramic mugs: 65 to 180 MXN. Thermos bottles: 120 to 320 MXN. USB drives: 95 to 280 MXN depending on capacity. Set with tequila or mezcal: 480 to 1,800 MXN depending on denomination, brand and packaging. Prices reflect the national average with broken-out IVA; remote-logistics zones may have an adjustment.
Available materials and sustainability trends
Materials available in the Mexican market during 2026 include conventional cotton, GRS-certified recycled cotton, recycled polyester — PET bottles — for backpacks and thermos bottles, cotton canvas, microfibre, recycled nylon, bamboo for pens and office articles, leather made from apple, pineapple and cactus residues — the so-called "vegan leathers" —, FSC-certified paper for stationery, recycled stainless steel for bottles and mugs, and recycled plastic for pens and USB drives.
Most demanded certifications by corporate customers are GRS — Global Recycled Standard — for recycled textiles, GOTS for organic cotton, FSC for paper and cardboard, ISO 14001 for environmental management system, and Rainforest Alliance for agricultural ingredients. Documentary traceability is increasingly important; customers with ESG commitment ask for documentation per batch, per supplier and per material.
Sectors with highest demand
Sectors with highest corporate merch demand in Mexico during 2026 are: technology corporate — software, fintech, cybersecurity, e-commerce — with onboarding, fair and retention programmes; financial corporate — banking, insurance, fintech — with premium customer kits and campaigns; healthcare — hospitals, clinics, laboratories — with plant uniform and patient kits; manufacturing and maquila — IMMEX and non-IMMEX — with plant personnel uniform.
Education sector — private universities, academies, edtech platforms — with admission merch and events; tourism sector — hotels, DMC, tour operators — with welcome kits, souvenirs and uniforms; real estate sector — developers, brokers — with pre-sale merch and amenities; government sector — federal, state and municipal agencies — with institutional programmes; and retail sector with uniforms and employee kits.
Nearshoring and effect on demand
The nearshoring phenomenon — relocation of supply chains from Asia to Mexico — continued growing during 2025 and 2026, with investment announcements in sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, electromobility, medical devices and advanced manufacturing. The effect on corporate merch demand manifests in three fronts: need for uniforms for plant personnel of new hiring, welcome kits for employees relocated from Asia and Europe, and merch for inauguration events and government relations.
States with the highest nearshoring investment capture are Nuevo León, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco and Baja California. Corporate customers with investment announcements require merch vendors with multi-plaza capacity, consistent quality and robust documentation for internal audit processes. Coordination with multinational corporate customers is managed in Spanish, English and, increasingly, other languages depending on the origin of the investment.
2027 projections
Projections for 2027 point to moderate growth in total volume — between five and ten per cent — with greater intensity in sustainable product lines and in technology, healthcare and nearshoring sectors. Prices will remain stable for catalogue lines and may have moderate increases in personalised lines with recycled or low-impact materials, due to raw material availability and process cost.
Personalisation techniques will continue evolving towards digital — DTF, DTG, digital sublimation with ecological inks — with reduction in the use of wet chemical processes. Batch traceability with QR or NFC will become standard for customers with robust programmes. Event delivery will continue to require detailed logistics coordination with on-site owner confirmation.

The state of the industry report reflects workshop observation and its suppliers during the covered period. Aggregate figures are built based on orders actually served, conversations with raw material suppliers and cross-references with customers; they do not constitute a formal statistical study of the sector. Corp-Merch.MX is a Mexican workshop for corporate merch production; we operate independently and the report information corresponds to the workshop's perspective, not to the sector as a whole.
