Asia roadmap: serving Asian clients with operations in Mexico
How we serve Asian companies — Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese and Southeast Asian — that run manufacturing, commercial or corporate operations in Mexico and need locally-produced corporate merch with home-country standards.
Context: Asian presence in Mexico
Mexico carries significant Asian presence. Japanese investment concentrates in the Bajío — Toyota in Apaseo el Grande, Mazda in Salamanca, Honda in Celaya, Nissan in Aguascalientes — with manufacturing plants that need operational uniforms for technical and administrative staff. Korean investment has a presence in Monterrey and Saltillo with Kia, Hyundai and their Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier networks. Chinese investment is growing in Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Juárez and Querétaro with manufacturers of technology, electronics and white goods.
Beyond manufacturing, Asian companies with commercial operations — Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Huawei, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Brother — have commercial offices in CDMX, Polanco, Santa Fe, with regional teams that need merch for corporate customers, fairs and product events. Operations are served with local production in Mexico and compliance with home-country standards.
Japanese standards: kaizen, poka-yoke, mieruka
Japanese companies operate with specific lean manufacturing standards — kaizen — and error prevention — poka-yoke. When a Japanese client asks for a programme, we deliver documentation aligned to those standards: process kaizen with continuous improvement goals, poka-yoke at the critical decoration points, mieruka — visualisation — of plant progress on a physical board. The operating language of internal documentation is Spanish with English translation when the client requires it; the language of customer-facing presentation is the country of origin.
Statistical sampling follows Japanese automotive industry practice — AQL 1.0 on critical defects, AQL 1.5 on major defects — with general inspection level II under MIL-STD-105E. For critical runs we apply 100% inspection with documented acceptance criteria. The quality certificate is delivered in bilingual format with the responsible person's signature.
Korean standards: PDCA cycle and part-number traceability
Korean companies operate with the PDCA cycle — plan, do, check, act — and part-number traceability for each product component. When a Korean client asks for a programme, we label each input with its part number, register the part number in the order system and deliver traceability to the customer alongside the product. Billing is broken down by part number and by purchase order where applicable.
For Korean clients in the automotive sector — Kia in Pesquería, Hyundai in Pesquería, Samsung Electronics in Querétaro — we apply the IATF 16949 standard for quality, with PPAP when the customer requires it, and with statistical process control — SPC — for critical decoration parameters. Delivery includes a packing plan by part number and order number.
Chinese standards: cost-benefit and response speed
Chinese companies and Chinese-origin companies in Mexico — Lenovo, Hisense, TCL, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, ZTE, Hikvision, Dahua, BYD — operate with a focus on cost-benefit and response speed. When a Chinese client asks for a programme, we deliver the quote within four business hours, physical samples within five business days and the first run within ten business days. Operating documentation is in Spanish with English when required.
For Chinese clients in the electronics and white goods sectors we handle compliance with applicable standards — NOM-003 for electrical items, NOM-024 for commercial information — and import documentation when components come from China. CFDI 4.0 invoicing carries the payment complement where applicable and the Carta Porte 3.0 complement when transport runs through our logistics network.
Indian, Vietnamese and Southeast Asian clients
Indian companies with a presence in Mexico — Tata Consultancy Services in Guadalajara, Infosys in Monterrey, Wipro in CDMX, HCL in CDMX — handle uniforms for technical staff and merch for technology events. Operating documentation is delivered in English with Spanish translation when the client requires it. CFDI 4.0 invoicing is issued with the local operation's RFC and tax address.
Vietnamese and Southeast Asian companies — VinFast in the northern zone, Thai companies in the electronics industry, Malaysian manufacturers in components — operate with standards similar to Japanese and Korean for quality, and with short response times. Service runs with a commercial lead who coordinates with the client's head office when the purchasing decision is regional.
Logistics and compliance for Asian clients
For Asian clients importing components from their country of origin — textiles, accessories, gifts — we run the sewing or local decoration service under the temporary import regime where applicable, or under the definitive import regime when the customer prefers. CFDI 4.0 invoicing is issued per the applicable regime and the CFDI use the customer requires.
For deliveries to Asian plants in Mexico we coordinate with the plant's dock window and the named receiving lead. Delivery is made with confirmation of receipt by the authorised lead and with traceability by order number and part number where the customer requires it.
What adjusts by country and sector
Service adjusts by country of origin — Japan, Korea, China, India, Vietnam, ASEAN — and by sector — automotive, electronics, white goods, technology, consulting, commercial. For automotive sector clients we apply IATF 16949 with PPAP; for electronics clients we apply ISO 9001 with process control; for commercial clients we apply the premium presentation standard with careful packaging.
When a client requires merch with text in their language — Japanese, Korean, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Hindi, Vietnamese, Thai — we verify that the type font supports the characters before production. Verification is included in the quality plan. For text requiring vertical alignment — traditional calligraphy — we confirm with the customer before production.
Let's talk about your Asian company's programme
If your Asian company operates in Mexico and you need a local workshop with home-country standards, let's talk. We deliver a proposal aligned with your standards and your calendar.
The Asia roadmap is a statement of intent on how we serve Asian clients with operations in Mexico. The standards described are typical for clients in each country and are confirmed in writing before the first order. Corp-Merch.MX is a Mexican workshop for corporate merch; we operate independently.
