Custom Solar Power Banks for Field, Outdoor and ESG Gifting

The solar power bank combines two narratives Mexican enterprises are adopting hard: portable energy for field staff, and environmental commitment as ESG gift. We run 10,000 to 20,000 mAh capacity with Grade A lithium polymer cell, polycrystalline solar panel at 1.5 to 2W on the upper face that delivers emergency charge outdoors, dual USB-A and USB-C PD 18W output, integrated LED torch, ABS plus silicone rubber housing with IPX4 rating. For programs at mining, energy, agricultural and outdoor adventure companies the solar power bank is the gift that communicates preparedness and sustainability.

Why solar and not conventional

The conventional power bank charges its cell via USB from a wall outlet. The solar power bank adds a photovoltaic panel on the upper face that converts sunlight into electricity and feeds it into the main cell. Solar charge speed is slow — a full day of direct sun adds between 20 and 40 percent charge to a 10,000 mAh power bank — so it is not the primary source but the emergency backup. Its value sits on two planes: when the employee is three days in the field with no electricity access, they can keep the phone alive by exposing the power bank to the sun during breaks; and when the client wants to communicate ESG commitment, the solar panel is the permanent visual reminder that the brand is committed to sustainability.

The solar panel on a corporate power bank is typically polycrystalline for cost and availability. Monocrystalline panels are more efficient (22 percent versus 17 percent) but more expensive and reserved for premium programs. Useful life of the solar panel under normal use conditions — sun exposure, heat, rain — is 5 to 8 years before efficiency drops to 80 percent of initial. That means the solar power bank can be used 3 to 5 years maintaining useful performance, which makes it suitable for merch programs that cycle through inventory over long periods.

Capacity and practical use

Capacity is measured in milliamp-hours (mAh) and defines how many phone charges the power bank delivers. A 10,000 mAh power bank charges an iPhone 15 standard from 0 to 100 percent two and a half times, or a Samsung Galaxy S24 once and three quarters. A 20,000 mAh power bank charges an iPhone four times or a large Android phone three times. Conversion from cell capacity to delivered charge is not 1:1 — there are losses to heat, circuit efficiency, and the protection cutoff that prevents deep discharge — so real deliverable capacity runs 60 to 65 percent of nominal cell capacity.

For programs with office-based employees or events, the 10,000 mAh is sufficient — charges the phone twice, enough for a day of intensive use. For field engineers, field technicians or outdoor-adventure gifts, the 20,000 mAh is the recommendation — charges the phone three times and still has reserve for a tablet or smartwatch. For programs with USB-C laptops — MacBook Air, iPad Pro, Nintendo Switch — the solar power bank needs Power Delivery 18W minimum; the 20,000 mAh with PD 18W can deliver a partial charge to MacBook Air in 90 minutes, useful for extending the work shift.

Programs where solar power banks end up

The solar power bank is the preferred piece in programs where the recipient spends time outdoors. The mining industry — Grupo México, Industrias Peñoles, Newmont, Agnico Eagle, Alamos Gold, Torex Gold — delivers solar power banks to geologists, mine supervisors and heavy-equipment operators who work shifts in zones without electricity infrastructure. The energy industry — Pemex, CFE, Iberdrola Mexico, Engie, Atlas Renewable — delivers them to field technicians who maintain substations and transmission lines in remote areas. The agricultural industry — Grupo Pro, Driscoll's, Grupo Bimbo, Nestlé Mexico, Herdez — delivers them to field supervisors and agronomists who tour plantations.

For BTL and outdoor-adventure programs — tourism campaigns in Baja California Sur, hiking events at Nevado de Toluca, brand activations at Punta Mita and Punta de Mita — the solar power bank is the floor gift that communicates sustainability and adventure. For ESG programs — companies that adopted ASG reports and want gifts aligned with their sustainability narrative — the solar power bank enters the new-hire welcome kit, anniversary gift and year-end closure gift. For customer-loyalty programs — banks, insurers, fintech — the solar power bank is the premium gift for Wealth-segment clients.

Certifications and compliance

The lithium-polymer power bank is a device that requires specific certifications for air, sea and ground transport. For commercial air transport, IATA DGR regulation classifies the power bank as a lithium battery and requires nominal capacity not exceeding 100Wh without airline approval; between 100Wh and 160Wh requires approval; above 160Wh is prohibited in cabin. Our 10,000 mAh power banks run at 37Wh — safe for cabin without restriction. The 20,000 mAh run at 74Wh — also cabin-safe. For international shipping we manage MSDS — Material Safety Data Sheet — and UN 38.3 reporting impact, vibration, short-circuit and overcharge testing.

In Mexico the lithium-cell power bank requires NOM-024-SCFI-2013 compliance for electronic components commercialised in national territory. For US export under USMCA, requires FCC Part 15 Subpart B for EMI and UL 2054 or UL 1642 for cell safety. For European export under complementary USMCA, requires CE, RoHS and Battery Directive 2006/66/EC. All documentation is delivered to the client in PDF format signed by our operations director at delivery moment. Invoicing follows the general regime with CFDI 4.0, 16 percent IVA and Carta Porte 3.0 supplement.
