PVC patches for tactical gear, outdoor brands and identity with depth
PVC patches are the technique that gives a brand mark three-dimensional presence on a garment. Liquid PVC is injected into a custom mould — the design itself becomes the mould geometry — and cures into a soft, durable rubber patch with raised and recessed areas that read as a relief sculpture. The patch survives water, mud, salt, sweat, gasoline and sun exposure without fading, fraying or losing detail. That is why PVC patches own the tactical, outdoor, fishing, motorcycle and airsoft communities: the patch looks the same after a year on a fishing vest as it did the day it was sewn on.
Where PVC patches earn their place
PVC patches are the right call when the brand identity needs to live on rough gear. Fishing vests, motorcycle jackets, tactical plate carriers, hiking backpacks, paddle gear and outdoor equipment all carry identity marks in environments that destroy embroidered patches within a season — salt water rots the merrowed border, sun bleaches the rayon thread, mud embeds in the weave. PVC sits on the surface and shrugs off all of it.
The technique is also the right call when the brand identity is sculptural. PVC patches can have raised and recessed elements at the same time — a flag that waves, a skull that recedes behind crossed bones, a fish with a 3D eye. The aesthetic is bold and tactical, not subtle. For corporate blazers and hospitality linen the technique reads as too aggressive; embroidered or woven patches fit those environments better. For motorsport clubs, fishing lodges, outdoor brands and tactical gear distributors, PVC patches are the standard.
Recurring applications across Mexican corporate programmes
Tactical and airsoft distributors
Brand patches for airsoft teams, tactical gear shops and military-surplus distributors. Velcro-back for plate carriers and chest rigs, sew-on for jackets. Common with the Baja and Sonora outdoor outfitters and with the CDMX and Monterrey airsoft communities.
Fishing and marine brands
PVC patches for fishing lures, tackle bags, marine apparel and charter-fleet branding. Salt-water resistant, UV-stable and flexible enough to apply to curved surfaces. Common in the Sinaloa, Veracruz and Yucatán sport-fishing sector.
Motorsport clubs and apparel
Club patches for motorcycle clubs, automotive clubs and racing teams. 3D moulded club crests with raised lettering, velcro or sew-on backing for vests and jackets. Annual-issue patches with the year incorporated into the mould.
Outdoor and adventure brands
Identity patches for hiking, climbing, kayaking and camping brands. Moulded geometric logos and brand symbols applied to backpacks, dry bags, PFDs and outdoor apparel. Common in the CDMX and Oaxaca outdoor outfitter scene.
The PVC patch production flow
The artwork is converted to a 3D model — the design is broken into layers of depth, with each colour or element raised or recessed by 0.5 to 2 mm. The 3D model drives a CNC-machined aluminium mould; each colour or layer is a separate plate in the mould assembly. The mould is mounted on an injection machine, and liquid PVC is injected into the cavity under heat and pressure.
The PVC cures inside the mould, the mould opens and the finished patch is ejected. Excess material is hand-trimmed with a scalpel or routed with a CNC if the shape is complex. The backing is applied last: heat-seal adhesive for iron-on, hook-and-loop for velcro, plain for sew-on. For glow-in-the-dark or reflective patches, photoluminescent or glass-bead additives are mixed into the PVC before injection.
MOQ, pricing and delivery
The cost-effective MOQ starts at 100 patches for PVC — the mould cost is one-time per artwork and weighs heavily on small runs. The unit price drops clearly at 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,500 pieces. We quote per patch per size per colour count, with the mould cost amortised over the run. The mould is kept on file for 24 months at no charge for re-orders.
Lead time is 20 to 30 business days standard, including the mould production and the physical sample. Express line 14 to 18 days with a +50% surcharge for expedited mould machining. Quotes are in MXN ex-IVA, 16% IVA itemised on a CFDI 4.0 stamped by SAT against your RFC. We can quote and invoice in USD for direct-ship programmes.
FAQ — PVC patches in Mexico
How many colours can the patch carry?
Up to 8 colours per design, each colour a separate mould plate. More colours add mould cost and cycle time. The common corporate and tactical range is 3 to 5 colours.
What sizes are standard?
From 3 cm × 3 cm up to 20 cm × 25 cm. The most common tactical sizes are 5 cm × 5 cm and 8 cm × 5 cm rectangular. Larger sizes require bigger moulds and longer cycle times.
Are PVC patches eco-friendly?
Standard PVC is not biodegradable. We offer a bio-based PVC alternative with similar performance characteristics for clients with sustainability mandates; the per-piece cost is roughly 25% higher.
Do PVC patches survive extreme temperatures?
Yes. The working temperature range is -30 °C to 80 °C. Beyond that the rubber begins to soften or stiffen; we do not recommend PVC for under-hood automotive or industrial-oven applications.
Can you add glow-in-the-dark or reflective elements?
Yes. Photoluminescent PVC charges under daylight and glows for 6 to 8 hours in darkness. Reflective glass-bead PVC reflects light back to the source for night visibility. Both add roughly 30% to the unit cost.

Send us quantity, size, colour count, backing choice and the deadline. If you have vector artwork with a 3D mock-up or a reference patch from another brand, attach it; if not, we will quote against a 2D vector and prepare a digital 3D render for sign-off before mould production.
