How Mexico corporate merch quotes are built

This page explains how Corp-Merch.MX assembles every quote: which line items are included, what depends on volume, how 16% IVA is applied, how freight is calculated, and why the price ranges change between a 100-piece welcome kit and a 5,000-piece product launch. It is written for marketing directors, HR managers, internal communication leads and corporate buyers who need to defend a budget in front of their leadership.

How a Corp-Merch.MX quote is built

Every quote we send has five components that add up to the final price you see on the PDF: (1) base product — the cost of the blank item (t-shirt, hoodie, mug, backpack, tumbler, USB, notebook) at the agreed quality and fabric weight from our shop-floor or import partner; (2) decoration — the cost of the chosen printing method (screen printing, embroidery, sublimation, laser engraving, UV DTF, pad printing) plus artwork preparation and, when applicable, the cost of screens, frames or transfers; (3) packaging and kit assembly — individual packaging when required, group packaging per recipient, printed boxes, sleeves, tags with QR or serial number, tissue paper, personalized card; (4) operations — logistics, kit assembly when multi-piece, quality control, domestic or international shipping; (5) taxes — 16% IVA for operations within Mexican territory, ISR withholding when the supplier is an individual with business activity in some cases.

On base product: we work in two modes. The first is domestic production — workshops in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey or Mérida with five-to-fifteen business-day lead times depending on volume. The second is import from Asia under IMMEX or definitive-import schemes — lead times of twenty-five to seventy days depending on the port and the transport mode (air, LCL or FCL ocean). The price difference between the two is usually 15% to 35% in favor of import, but timing changes radically. For urgent runs under 300 pieces we usually recommend domestic production; for runs above 500 pieces with advance planning we recommend import.

MOQ and volume-driven price curves

MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) is the smallest batch a producer accepts in one run and it is the variable that moves unit price the most. At Corp-Merch.MX we negotiate flexible MOQs for corporate merch, but the principle holds: more pieces, lower unit cost because fixed costs are amortised. Below are typical ranges by category, not fixed prices:

  • T-shirts and polos — MOQ from 50 pieces in domestic production. At 100 pieces unit price typically sits at MXN 110-160 undecorated; at 500 it drops to MXN 75-110; at 1,000 down to MXN 60-90; above 3,000 import pricing starts at MXN 45-70 with extended lead time.
  • Hoodies and jackets — MOQ from 30 pieces. At 100 around MXN 380-520; at 500 drops to MXN 280-380; above 1,000 import starts at MXN 220.
  • Backpacks and bags — MOQ from 50 pieces. At 100 around MXN 220-340; at 500 drops to MXN 170-260; above 1,000 from MXN 140 on import.
  • Tumblers, cylinders and bottles — MOQ from 100 pieces per colour. At 100 around MXN 95-150; at 500 drops to MXN 70-110; above 1,000 from MXN 55 on import.
  • Tech (USB, power bank, headphones, speakers, smartwatches) — MOQ from 100 pieces. At 100 around MXN 180-280 per item; at 500 drops to MXN 140-220; above 1,000 from MXN 110 on import.
  • Premium sets with tequila, wine, mezcal or gourmet coffee — MOQ from 30 sets. At 30 around MXN 950-1,400; at 100 drops to MXN 780-1,150; from 300 negotiated directly with the authorized producer.

These ranges are indicative and shift with fabric type (combed cotton, carded cotton, denim, recycled polyester), with product brand (domestic tees run MXN 75, imported ones MXN 45 with comparable quality), with season (the months before year-end push prices up due to demand) and with decoration type (one-colour screen print is cheaper than eight-colour embroidery with heavy stitch count).

Decoration: how each method is quoted

Decoration method is the variable that most affects personalisation cost. At Corp-Merch.MX we run five main methods and price each one separately so you can choose with full information:

  • Screen printing — most economical for medium and large runs. Quoted per colour and per piece. One colour: MXN 18-30 per unit at 100 pieces, down to MXN 8-15 above 1,000. Four colours: MXN 55-90 at 100 pieces, down to MXN 25-45 above 1,000.
  • Embroidery — preferred for executive uniforms, jackets, backpacks, caps. Quoted per stitch. A logo of 5,000 to 10,000 stitches runs MXN 45-85 per unit. More complex logos above 25,000 stitches can reach MXN 150-220.
  • Sublimation — for sports t-shirts, mugs, tumblers, mouse pads. Quoted per piece and per area. At 100 pieces around MXN 50-90 per unit full colour; above 500 down to MXN 30-55.
  • Laser engraving — for metals, wood, acrylic, certain plastics. Quoted per piece. At 100 pieces around MXN 25-45 per unit; above 500 down to MXN 12-25.
  • UV DTF and pad printing — for small items, USBs, pens, keyrings. Quoted per piece and per colour. At 100 pieces around MXN 18-35 per unit in one colour.

Every quote includes artwork preparation at no extra cost when the client delivers logo as vector (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF with outlines) and brand guidelines. When the client delivers raster artwork (JPG, PNG) or requires redrawing, vectorisation is billed at MXN 850-2,400 per logo depending on complexity.

IVA, freight and tax considerations

All our quotes are issued in Mexican pesos (MXN) and invoiced with 16% IVA broken out. For clients outside Mexico with operations on Mexican territory — including companies with IMMEX plants on the northern border — the invoice is issued with IVA and the client can apply accreditation or transfer depending on its tax regime. For deliveries to border zones, IVA may be 8% in some cases (north and south border zone per current decree) — we confirm the rate at quote time.

Freight cost depends on three variables: origin (workshop in CDMX, GDL, MTY or import port), destination (client postal code or their logistics operator's), volume (quoted by kg or by parcel). For shipments within Mexico we work with three carriers: Estafeta, FedEx and DHL. The typical range is MXN 80-180 per parcel up to 5 kg within the metropolitan area, and MXN 250-650 per parcel out-of-state depending on destination. For industrial runs above 500 kg we quote dedicated freight with a specialised carrier. For international shipments within USMCA (USA and Canada) we use carriers with experience in foreign trade and the INCOTERM is usually DAP or DDP by agreement.

When the work involves import, we add to product cost these line items when applicable: import duty per tariff fraction (most t-shirts, backpacks and textiles pay 25% unless USMCA preference applies), 16% import IVA, customs processing fee (DTA), RECO when applicable, and customs broker fees. When the client is the holder of an IMMEX programme we can deliver the goods to their IMMEX plant without nationalising them — this is negotiated case by case.

Request a formal quote

If you are quoting a corporate merch project — an onboarding kit, a product launch, an event, an employer brand campaign or a year-end gift — let's talk. We need to know: product, quantity, delivery date, destination, preferred decoration method and, if you have one, a creative brief or brand guidelines. With that information we deliver a formal MXN quote with broken-out IVA within 48 business hours.

Corp-Merch.MX is a Mexico-based corporate merch production workshop. The price ranges on this page are indicative and shift with raw-material availability, FX rate, season and supplier negotiations. The formal quote delivered by the commercial team is the only binding one. Tax considerations reflect the framework in force at the time of publication — SAT and SE update criteria periodically. For IMMEX clients or border-zone operations, please confirm the specific tax regime before issuing a purchase order.
