Reference list — MXN before VAT

Corporate merch pricing in Mexico

Unit price ranges by product category in Mexican pesos before the 16% VAT, minimum order quantities by print method, and the six factors that explain why two quotes for the same item can differ by more than forty percent between one shop and another.

How a merch unit price is built

A unit price on a corporate merch quote in Mexico is composed of five layers, in this order: blank product imported or made locally, customization (screen print, embroidery, sublimation, laser engraving, digital transfer), individual or collective packaging, delivery logistics, and the shop margin. The 16% IVA (Mexican VAT) is broken out on a separate line at the end of the quote, together with the ISR withholding when applicable. Formal quotes are issued as CFDI 4.0 with the payment complement when there is an advance and a settlement.

That is why two quotes for the same item can differ so much. One may be adding only product + customization, while the other includes individual packaging, NOM labeling, master packing for delivery in the Mexico City metro area, and insured shipping. A fully-loaded quote looks more expensive on paper but costs less to operate, because it removes extras that show up at the last minute and that usually cost more.

Ranges by category — MXN before VAT

The ranges below are indicative for runs of 100 to 500 units, branded blank product imported under a certified IVA-IEPS company scheme, and standard print. For smaller runs the unit price rises 20–40%. For runs above one thousand units it drops 10–20%.

T-shirts and polos

MXN 95 to MXN 280 per unit depending on fabric, blank brand and method. Ringspun cotton 180–200 g is the corporate standard. One-color screen print sits at the low end; chest-pocket embroidery at the high end.

Backpacks and bags

MXN 180 to MXN 750 per unit. 600D backpacks with embroidered logo start in the mid range. Jute and organic cotton bags price higher because of the input cost.

Tech and office

MXN 65 to MXN 1,800 per unit. USBs, notebooks and pens cluster in the low range. Power banks, bluetooth speakers and headphones under NOM-024-SFCI sit in the high range and require the maker compliance letter.

Drinkware and premium sets

MXN 110 to MXN 2,400 per unit. Stainless steel tumblers and travel mugs with laser engraving dominate the middle of the range. Sets with tequila or wine under NOM-141-SSA1-SCFI sit in the upper part and require evidence from the authorized producer.

MOQ by print method

Minimum order quantity depends on the chosen print method, not only on the product. Screen print requires 25 to 50 units per design because the screen setup is amortized across the run. Embroidery requires 10 to 25 units because machine programming and frame changes take time. Sublimation and digital transfer can run from a single unit, which makes them useful for individually named items or short runs for a directory.

When the corporate client needs size splits in specific proportion — for example XXS 5%, S 20%, M 35%, L 25%, XL 10%, XXL 5% — the effective MOQ per size can be 5 to 10 units, which raises the unit cost but is needed so that each person receives the correct size without shortages.

Factors that move the price

Six factors explain why two quotes for the same item can differ by more than forty percent. Origin of the blank: a recognized-brand product imported under a foreign-trade scheme costs more than a generic, but it complies with NOM without observations and brings traceability codes. Print method: screen print is the most economical per piece above a certain quantity; embroidery always adds a fixed programming fee. Number of logo colors: each additional color in screen print needs another screen and adds between MXN 8 and MXN 18 per unit. Individual packaging: a box with ribbon and card can add between MXN 18 and MXN 45 per unit. Delivery destination: a delivery in Mexico City metro with scheduled appointment is cheaper than multiple drops in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Querétaro. Production lead time: an express run with delivery under ten business days costs 20–30% more because of shop availability and overtime.

How we quote

The formal quote is delivered within 48 business hours of receiving the brief with product, quantities by size or audience, print method, delivery destination and required date. The quote carries a line-by-line breakdown: product, customization, packaging, logistics, IVA. If you need a CFDI 4.0 with payment complement, we issue it per the SAT's mandatory fields: forma de pago, método de pago, uso de CFDI, fiscal regime of the receiver and postal code of the fiscal address.

When the client is an IMMEX company under a foreign-trade regime, we handle the temporary import of the blank with the corresponding pedimento and deliver within the timeframe authorized by the Secretaría de Economía. When the client is in the general regime, the definitive import of the blank is nationalized before customization. When the order includes alcohol sets under NOM-141-SSA1-SCFI-2012, we only pack product with the authorized producer's documentation and verified expiration date.

What is not included in a standard quote

There are three items that appear as extras only when they apply, and which a corporate client with its own quality system should know about before approving an order: (1) pre-production physical samples at MXN 350 to MXN 1,200 per unit plus shipping, needed when the client has to validate Pantone color, embroidery weight or print registration before full production; (2) AQL ISO 2859-1 sampling for runs above one thousand units, which adds MXN 4 to MXN 8 per unit and delivers a signed inspection report; (3) deliveries with appointment and on-site staff for drops at corporate sites with access protocol, which adds MXN 2,500 to MXN 8,000 per drop depending on volume and days required.

When any of these items applies, we state it explicitly in the quote with its cost, its justification and the deadline for confirmation. There are no extras that appear after the order is approved.

Frequently asked questions on pricing

Is VAT included in the table ranges?

No. The ranges are unit prices before VAT. The 16% is broken out on a separate line in the formal quote and reflected in the CFDI 4.0 we issue.

Do you accept USD payment or only pesos?

We invoice in Mexican pesos via SPEI transfer or corporate card. For clients with foreign accounts we accept USD or EUR at the FIX rate published by Banco de México on the settlement date.

Do prices vary between CDMX, Guadalajara and Monterrey?

The product and customization price is the same. What varies is the shipping cost to each city and, in some cases, the lead time depending on carrier availability.

Do you offer volume discount above one thousand units?

Yes. For runs above one thousand units we review case by case because it depends on the product, method and lead time. The typical discount is 10–20% off the base range.
