Rebranding — kits for corporate identity change, visual refresh and official launch
Structured merch program for rebranding, visual refresh, corporate identity change, brand mergers and naming migration: kits for employees, key customers, allied suppliers, press and official launch of the new branding. Covers IMPI compliance, LFPDPPP, controlled destruction of legacy inventory and per-recipient traceability.
When to activate this playbook
Rebranding is one of the most delicate moments in corporate life. The new identity must clearly communicate the change — of strategy, market, positioning, merger, naming — without giving the impression the company is abandoning its trajectory. Merch here plays a powerful narrative role: it is the first tangible piece of the new branding employees, customers and suppliers see, and it sets the tone for all the communication that follows. When rebranding is well executed, merch becomes an artifact of internal pride and renewed external loyalty. When poorly executed, every piece amplifies confusion.
This playbook applies to companies undergoing brand change: corporates with visual refresh after ten or fifteen years, companies in merger or acquisition unifying identity, companies changing trade name or corporate name, companies migrating from one business model to another and needing new identity to reflect it, family businesses professionalizing and adopting corporate branding, companies exiting or entering a market, and startups pivoting their value proposition and requiring coherent identity. It also applies for brand merger processes where two identities coexist during a transition period and then unify into one.
The typical program recipient is broad. Internal employees: management team, managers, operational staff, sales team, customer service team, branch and plant staff, remote staff in LATAM and the U.S. Key customers: strategic accounts with multi-year relationships, corporate customers with active contracts, distribution channel customers receiving the new branding. Allied suppliers: channel partners, contract manufacturers, critical suppliers with long-term relationship, communication and advertising agencies. Press and public opinion: journalists from Expansión, Forbes México, El Economista, El Financiero, Alto Nivel, Mundo Ejecutivo and other business media, opinion leaders, chambers and sector associations. Official launch: internal kickoff event with all employees, external event with VIP customers, press event with selected media.
Rebranding regulatory compliance is multi-faceted. The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) requires registration or update of the trademark registration for the new logo, isotype, trade name and slogan. The Federal Copyright Law applies to the identity manual and graphic elements that can be protected as a work. LFPDPPP applies to data handling for employees and customers receiving the kit. SAT requires update of fiscal address, corporate name and trade name in the RFC when there is a formal name change, affecting CFDI 4.0 from the change date. Additionally, there is a critical process of controlled destruction of legacy inventory: t-shirts, mugs, pens, signage, stationery and merchandise with the old brand cannot remain in circulation because they dilute the new identity and can confuse the market.
Audience tiers and kit per level
We handle five typical audiences in the rebranding program. Internal employees: pride kit with signature pieces of the new branding (technical t-shirt with new logo, engraved ceramic mug, thermos, hand-stitched notebook with refreshed mission, sticker pack of the new branding, CEO letter signing the change), recyclable cardboard packaging with new logo seal, card with new vision and updated values. Key customers: continuity kit with signature pieces (technical backpack with new logo, office set, encrypted USB with brand manual and communication materials, compact product or service device with new branding), rigid packaging with magnet, card with new identity and personalized CEO letter. Allied suppliers: ally kit with signature pieces (technical t-shirt, cap, thermos, new logo pin), simple cardboard packaging, operations director letter explaining the transition and thanking the partnership. Press and opinion leaders: editorial kit with rebranding dossier, signature pieces, access code to exclusive launch material. Official launch: differentiated kits for internal event (celebration t-shirt and cap, new logo badge), external event (small bag with signature pieces, USB with new identity), press event (dossier + editorial kit + access code).
We additionally handle the critical process of controlled destruction of legacy inventory. We work with certified suppliers for textile destruction (t-shirts, caps, aprons), ceramic and glass destruction (mugs, jugs), paper and cardboard destruction (legacy manual, stationery, catalogs), plastic and acrylic destruction (signage, displays), metal destruction (pins, pens, keychains) and electronic destruction (USBs, drives with legacy brand). Each destroyed batch is documented with photo, weight, date, client responsible and Corp-Merch responsible, and signed by both parties. When applicable, destruction is donated for recycling with authorized donee to have additional donation CFDI on top of the fiscal process.
