Employee recognition: the mark they take home

Tenure recognition programmes work when the piece handed over is proportional to the milestone. Five years is not the same as twenty, and the tangible gesture must reflect that difference. We work with Mexican corporates designing or renewing their recognition programme for employees at 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 year milestones, at operations based in CDMX, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Puebla, Mérida, León, Tijuana, Saltillo and the rest of the country. The curation uses pieces the employee will use, look at or display — not pieces that stay in a drawer.

Why tangible recognition works

Tenure recognition is one of the cheapest compensation investments with the highest emotional return that a corporate makes. The per-employee cost is low compared to a bonus, but the mark that goes home lasts decades. A metal plaque with the employee's name and years of service stays in the living room. An engraved watch is worn daily. A signed pen comes out every time something important needs signing. Every time the employee sees the object, the corporate's message gets reloaded.

The typical programme is built with five or six tiers that scale with tenure. The junior tier — one to three years — recognises with a desktop object and a director letter. The mid tier — five to ten years — adds a personal-use piece. The senior tier — fifteen to twenty years — adds a piece curated with a producer or artist. The veteran tier — twenty-five years or more — is delivered with a formal ceremony and a one-of-a-kind piece. Each tier has its packaging, card and message.

Annual programme operation

The recognition programme runs annually. The HR or compensation area closes the employee list per milestone in January or February. Corp-Merch processes the list, validates each employee's address, assigns the tier and produces the batch between March and July. Delivery is scheduled between the formal anniversary ceremony — when the corporate has one — or between August and November, ahead of the year-end dinner.

For deliveries across multiple cities — when the corporate has dispersed operations in CDMX, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Querétaro, Mérida and other cities — we manage shipping with tracking and delivery confirmation by the employee or local HR. For home-office or on-assignment employees, we ship to the home address with impact protection.

We invoice CFDI 4.0 with 16% IVA itemised to the SAT, using the corporate's RFC and tax address. When the corporate requires consolidated invoice per programme, we issue a CFDI per tier with the employee list attached as PDF. For corporates with IMMEX operations importing part of the curated pieces, we handle the temporary import pedimento.
