Product launch merch: from demo kit to inaugural gift
Launching a product in Mexico — whether a new smartphone model, a cosmetics line, a premium beverage or a fintech platform — calls for an inaugural kit that communicates the value proposition from the packing itself. Corp-Merch.MX runs the merch that surrounds the launch: press boxes for specialised journalists, demo kits for analysts and beta testers, gifts for the in-field commercial team and pieces for the early-adopter consumer who buys during presale.
Each launch has four audiences, each with its own merch
A professional launch distinguishes at least four audiences with different needs. Specialist press (Xataka México, The Verge en español, Wired México, tech magazines) receives a box with product and ready-to-review editorial materials — premium packing, user manual, press dossier. Analysts and beta testers receive demo kits with functional samples and technical documentation. The internal commercial team receives merch to use during presale and point-of-sale activation.
The early-adopter consumer who buys during presale or attends the launch event receives a gift that reinforces the early-purchase decision — limited-edition printed tote, serial-numbered tee, collectible set. The operation typically sums 200 to 5,000 pieces across the four audiences, with deliveries staggered between six weeks before launch (press) and event day (consumer).
Typical launch kit components
Press and analyst box
Rigid box with magnetic or ribbon closure, foam die-cut with the product silhouette, user manual in Spanish and English, press dossier with product data, USB with editorial materials, PR contact card. Run of 50 to 300 pieces depending on media coverage.
Demo kits and functional samples
Product sample in primary packing, quick-start guide, complementary accessory (case, charger, tester), feedback card for return. Run of 100 to 1,000 pieces for beta testers and sector analysts.
Commercial team merch
Embroidery polo with the launch claim, team tee, executive backpack with product pocket, business card integrated into the design. For field sales forces, account executives and post-sales support.
Early-adopter gifts
Limited-edition printed cloth tote, serial-numbered tee from the first run, collectible set (pins, stickers, embroidered patch). For presale event attendees or first 24-hour buyers.
Inaugural packaging and primary packing
The inaugural packing communicates before anything else. For high-end launches (premium smartphone, extra-aged tequila, skincare line) we work with rigid boxes covered in coated or linen paper with logo hot stamping and, when the client wants to elevate the experience, selective UV varnish over the product name. The interior resolves with EVA die-cut foam or moulded pulp — moulded pulp is the sustainable option when the brand carries an ESG narrative.
For mass-consumer launches (beverage, snack, entry-level cosmetics) we run SBS cardboard boxes with four-colour offset print and matte or gloss lamination. The goal is for the packing to survive transport and look premium at the same time. For small inaugural-gift runs (under 100 pieces) we can use a wooden or MDF case with laser engraving — more expensive per piece but with a finish that justifies the recipient's comment.
Launch operational timeline
A professional launch runs on a six- to ten-week calendar. Weeks 1–2 cover brief and product selection. Weeks 3–4 cover packing prototyping and colour matching. Weeks 5–6 cover press box and demo kit production (these need to reach journalists three to four weeks before launch day). Weeks 7–8 cover presale merch and sales-force production. Weeks 9–10 cover stand-side delivery to the event and distribution to early adopters.
Corp-Merch.MX runs the full calendar with a dedicated project manager. For fixed-date launches (Cintermex presentation, Palacio de los Deportes launch, Liverpool presale) we flex workshop capacity to deliver without sacrificing quality. Quotes are in MXN ex-IVA; the 16% IVA is itemised on a CFDI 4.0 stamped by SAT. For multinationals with a foreign parent, we invoice in USD or EUR with the comercio exterior complemento when the operation crosses the border.
FAQ — launch merch
What is the MOQ for press boxes?
50 pieces for rigid boxes with hot stamping. For smaller runs we evaluate an SBS cardboard box as a more cost-effective alternative.
Can you handle packing with an ESG narrative?
Yes — moulded pulp, FSC-certified recycled paper, water-based inks, hot stamping without plastic film. We share the certifications dossier to include in the launch press release.
Do you handle retail-secure packing?
Yes — warranty seals, holographic labels, tear-away packing that evidences opening. Useful for launches with channel or price restriction.
Can you deliver to the launch event?
Yes — stand-side delivery to the venue dock with coordinated timing. If the launch happens at a corporate showroom, Polanco hotel or brand rooftop, we arrive with a waybill and the event production lead's sign-off.
How is the invoice issued?
CFDI 4.0 stamped by SAT with 16% IVA itemised per product line. For multinational launches, the invoice carries the comercio exterior complemento. We accept USD payment at the exchange rate agreed at order close.
