Dress code event: what the guest wears when the corporate dress code is not clear

An event with an ambiguous dress code produces the error that later shows up in the corporate photo: the business-casual guest who arrived in a tuxedo, the cocktail guest who arrived in office attire, the business-formal guest who arrived in sneakers. When the corporate launches an event with a defined dress code —business formal, business casual, cocktail, gala, etiqueta, black tie, white tie, seasonal dress code, themed dress code— the operational solution is to produce a tangible input the guest consults before assembling their outfit: a dress-code card inside the invitation, a printed mini-guide with lookbook, a personalised QR code, or a physical reference sample for very formal events. We work with corporates in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Querétaro, Puebla, Mérida, León and the rest of the country. We run production with techniques such as hot-stamping, letterpress, silkscreen, foil and embroidery, with MOQ from 100 pieces and delivery in 10 to 15 business days.

Dress codes most used by Mexican corporates

Business formal

Dark suit (black, navy, charcoal), white shirt, sober tie, black Oxford shoes. For daytime events with authorities, board meetings or important contract signings. The dress-code card is printed on white card stock with serif typography and hot-stamping of the corporate in the bottom-right corner.

Business casual

Dress trousers, light shirt (mandarin collar or open collar optional), blazer optional, clean derby or monk shoes. For networking events, service launches, internal kick-offs or after-office events with clients. The card is printed on cream card stock with one-colour silkscreen in the corporate guidelines palette.

Cocktail and after office

Short or midi dress, suit without tie with light shirt and blazer, dress trousers paired with a sport coat. For year-end events, quarter close, brand launch or after-office with clients. The card is printed on textured card stock with hot-stamping and delivered with the invitation envelope.

Gala and black tie

Black tuxedo, bow tie, pleated shirt, patent leather shoes, formal long dress. For gala dinners, awards ceremonies, corporate anniversaries, events with foreign authorities. The card is printed on black card stock with gold or silver hot-stamping, and delivered in an envelope lined with metallic paper to match.

Production of the dress-code guide and card

The printed dress-code guide for a corporate event works as a reference manual for the guest. It is produced in pocket format (10.5 x 14.8 cm) or half-letter format (14 x 21 cm), with a corporate cover in hot-stamping or letterpress, interiors with illustrations and descriptions per dress code, back cover with event contact and QR code to the corporate site. Standard run is 100 to 500 pieces for board meetings and 1,000 to 5,000 pieces for open events with many attendees.

The individual dress-code card works as a reminder inside the invitation envelope. It is produced on 300 to 350 gsm card stock, with hot-stamping, foil, silkscreen, letterpress or laser engraving according to the corporate guidelines. Minimum run is 100 pieces and the standard for a formal event is 250 to 1,000 pieces. For events with themed dress code (Mexican night, anniversary gala, seasonal event) the card carries colour illustrations and seasonal motifs.

Seasonal variants and themed dress codes

The Mexican corporate runs three strong event seasons: year-end (November and December with gala dinners, corporate posadas and employee recognition events), start of year (January and February with internal kick-offs and sales conventions) and corporate anniversary (anniversary month with gala dinner or authority event). For each season we run specific card stock, palette and motifs: warm golds for year-end, sober blues for kick-off, silver and elegant tones for anniversary.

For events with a themed dress code (Mexican night, Hawaiian gala, anniversary event with historical motif, launch with cultural motif) the printed guide includes a dress-code section with free interpretation: allowed tones, characteristic pieces, accessories, footwear and suggested hair and makeup. For venues with specific conditions (wood floors, open-air garden, terrace with marble floor) the guide includes a technical note on suitable footwear.

Delivery is coordinated with the corporate Communications or Institutional Relations area and documented with a receipt photo and signature of the lead.

Frequently asked questions

How long does production of the printed dress-code guide take?

The pilot ships in 5 to 7 business days for validation. The full run ships in 10 to 15 business days after pilot approval, with nationwide delivery to any corporate site via parcel service with tracking and signature of the lead.

Can you handle personalised QR codes per guest?

Yes — for events with variable dress code by table, area or seniority we generate unique QR codes per guest that link to the specific guide section or to a personalised lookbook. QR printing is done on card stock or on the envelope with hot-stamping.

Can you deliver to the event venue instead of the corporate?

Yes — we deliver to the venue (hotel, hall, convention centre, restaurant) on a schedule coordinated with the maître and the event lead. The invoice is issued under CFDI 4.0 to the SAT with 16% VAT breakdown.

Is Corp-Merch an official partner of any venue or clothing brand?
