USMCA Americas corporate event: the Mexico-United States-Canada trilateral convention

The USMCA Americas corporate event is the trilateral convention that brings together the corporate's subsidiaries in Mexico, the United States and Canada under the umbrella of the Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC / USMCA / CUSMA, in force since 1 July 2020). It is the largest regional event a multinational with trilateral headquarters runs: typically 400 to 2,000 attendees, trilingual Spanish-English-French, trilingual gift, simultaneous translation in three languages, international flight logistics and customs documentation for the gift under USMCA rules of origin. Corp-Merch.MX produces the full Americas event for multinationals with trilateral headquarters. We work with production from 200 attendees in a regional session to 2,000 attendees in a trilateral convention, with CFDI 4.0 invoicing to SAT, 16% VAT, deductible as an Industrial Relations expense, with deduction support for IMMEX programmes and USMCA operations.

USMCA rules of origin and IMMEX deduction

The USMCA (T-MEC / CUSMA) sets specific rules of origin for products crossing the borders between Mexico, the United States and Canada. For gift crossing international borders, the corporate must demonstrate that the product complies with the treaty's rules of origin to enjoy the preferential tariff treatment. We coordinate with the corporate's customs broker to document the gift with USMCA certificates of origin when applicable, trilingual export invoices, packing lists and supply chain documentation when the gift includes components from the three countries.

The deduction under the IMMEX programme (Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services Industry) applies to corporates with manufacturing operations in Mexico that export mainly to the United States. For gift delivered to employees of IMMEX plants, we run separate invoicing with 16% VAT breakdown and deduction support under the IMMEX programme when the gift ties to plant-floor talent retention or to employee wellbeing programmes for operational staff. For corporates with northern border operations (Tijuana, Juárez, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo), the gift delivery is coordinated with extended hours at the plant to cover the three shifts. For corporates headquartered in the United States or Canada, we also invoice in USD or CAD with Banco de México daily conversion and USMCA programme support.

Trilingual gift curation by seniority

The trilingual gift curation of the Americas USMCA event is built with the trilateral executive committee and trilateral Internal Communications, with three distinct lines: trilingual operational gift for every attendee, premium-plus gift for the executive committee and legendary gift for the honourees. For operational attendees we run gifts from MXN 1,500 to 4,000 (or USD or CAD equivalent): canvas backpack with trilingual regional logo, stainless steel thermos, hard-cover trilingual notebook (Spanish-English-French), trilingual specialty coffee kit (Chiapas, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Colombia).

For executive committee attendees we run premium gifts from MXN 8,000 to 25,000: Citizen or Casio watch, Montblanc pen, Tumi luggage, Sony or Bose headphones, fine-dining experience, contemporary North American art piece (Sotheby's, Christie's, Phillips). For honourees we run legendary gifts from MXN 25,000 to 120,000: Longines or Tag Heuer watch, Montblanc Meisterstück pen, contemporary art piece (Kurimanzutto gallery, David Zwirner, Pace), Mexican silver or Canadian gold jewellery piece. The gift ships with no visible price and is documented with a personalised trilateral CEO letter in Spanish, English and French.
