SLP Automotive Summit Q1 2026: BMW, GM and Tier 1 supplier cluster kickoff in San Luis Potosí, January–March

January, February and March are the quarter in which the San Luis Potosí automotive cluster —BMW Group Planta San Luis Potosí (3 Series, 2 Series Coupé models), General Motors Complejo San Luis Potosí (GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Equinox, Cadillac), Daimler Truck, the Tier 1 suppliers headquartered in the capital industrial zone and Villa de Reyes— kicks off the fiscal year with the supplier round that will supply the chain during the following nine months. The SLP Automotive Summit is the kickoff appointment at the San Luis Potosí Convention Center with B2B agenda and matchmaking. We produce the exhibitor merch with delivery to SLP five business days before setup and CFDI 4.0 with foreign trade complement when the buyer is IMMEX.

Why Q1 in SLP opens the Bajío automotive calendar

The San Luis Potosí automotive cluster operates with a supplier calendar that starts in January and ends in December. The reason is the dependency on Munich, Detroit and Stuttgart: the first-quarter supplier round defines which parts will go into production during the model cycle that starts in September. The SLP Automotive Summit is the appointment where the corporate buyers of the automakers —BMW, GM, Daimler, Navistar— sit with the Tier 1 suppliers of the cluster to review capacity, quality and price for the year that begins.

The typical Summit exhibitor operates from a three-by-three meter modular stand on the Convention Center floor, has a commercial team of four to eight people that travels from SLP itself, from CDMX, from Munich or from Detroit, and brings an inventory of catalogs and samples that they deliver to buyers in printed and USB format. The stand merch fulfills four functions: commercial-team identification, buyer gift, POP material that holds the brand, and post-visit kit that arrives at the buyer two weeks after the Summit with the signed proposal.

For IMMEX suppliers headquartered in the capital industrial zone, Villa de Reyes or Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, the Summit cycle overlaps with the pedimentos calendar: the merch enters the Summit under temporary export and is nacionalizado at the close of the event when it stays in the Mexican buyer's warehouse. We generate the CFDI 4.0 with the Complemento de Comercio Exterior 2.0 from the first delivery and close the pedimento when the exhibitor requires it.

Cost and operations for the SLP Automotive Summit

The standard per-exhibitor bundle starts at MXN 1,180 before IVA for runs of four to six salespeople. For eight-salesperson runs it drops to MXN 990. The general MOQ is four salespeople; stands with fewer than four are quoted with an additional fixed charge for the complexity of the back wall and the kitting per salesperson.

We invoice CFDI 4.0 with 16% IVA breakdown to the SAT in national currency. For IMMEX corporate buyers we manage the payment complement in USD at the Banco de México fix of the day and the corresponding trail. For buyers receiving the charge in USD from Munich, Detroit or Stuttgart we manage the pedimento with the exhibitor's customs broker.

Lead time is twenty to thirty business days from art approval to produce the full exhibitor bundle. For exhibitors with less lead time we operate express production at an additional cost. Delivery is made five business days before setup to give the commercial team margin to do the kitting per salesperson and the stand distribution.
