San Luis Potosí Automotive Fair Q1 2026: the year-opening of the BMW, GM and Tier 1 corridor cluster, January through March

January, February and March are the quarter when the arm plants and Tier 1 suppliers of the San Luis Potosí automotive cluster — Villa de Reyes, San Luis Capital, Soledad de Graciano — start the fiscal year with the supplier round that will service the chain for the following nine months. The SLP Automotive Fair is the kick-off: three days of booths, a B2B agenda and a matchmaking wheel that brings corporate buyers from BMW, GM, Toyota, Navistar and the IMMEX operations out of the SLP industrial corridor. We produce the exhibitor merch with delivery to the San Luis Convention Centre five working days before assembly and CFDI 4.0 with the Foreign Trade Complement when the buyer is IMMEX.

Why Q1 in San Luis Potosí opens the Bajío automotive calendar

The San Luis Potosí automotive cluster runs on a procurement calendar that starts in January and runs through December. The reason is the dependency on Munich, Detroit and Toyota City: the first-quarter supplier round sets which parts go into production during the model cycle that starts in September. The SLP Automotive Fair is the appointment where corporate buyers from the arm plants — BMW San Luis Potosí, GM Silao, Toyota Apaseo — sit with the corridor's Tier 1 suppliers to review capacity, quality and price for the year ahead.

The typical exhibitor at the Fair runs a three-by-three modular booth on the San Luis Capital Convention Centre floor, brings a four-to-eight-person commercial team that flies in from San Luis itself, from CDMX, from Silao or from Laredo, and brings a catalogue and sample inventory handed over to buyers in print and USB form. The booth merch serves four functions: identifying the commercial team for buyers walking thirty booths in a day, the gift handed to the buyer at the close of the meeting, POP material that carries the brand when the exhibitor is not in front of the customer, and a post-visit kit that lands at the buyer's desk two weeks after the Fair with the signed proposal.

For IMMEX exhibitors based in Villa de Reyes, Soledad de Graciano or the Querétaro–San Luis corridor, the Fair cycle overlaps with the pedimento calendar: merch enters the Fair under temporary export and is nationalised at close when it stays in the Mexican buyer's warehouse. We issue CFDI 4.0 with the Foreign Trade Complement 2.0 from the first delivery and close the pedimento when the exhibitor asks.

Cost and operation for the SLP Automotive Fair

The standard exhibitor bundle starts at MXN 1,150 before IVA for four-to-six salesperson runs. For eight-person teams it drops to MXN 970. The overall MOQ is four salespeople; booths with fewer than four are quoted with an extra fixed fee for the back wall complexity and per-salesperson kitting.

We issue CFDI 4.0 with 16% IVA itemised to SAT in national currency. For IMMEX corporate buyers we run the payment complement in USD at the Bank of Mexico exchange rate of the day with the matching audit trail. For buyers receiving the charge in USD from Munich, Detroit or Toyota City we run the pedimento with the exhibitor's customs broker.

Lead time is 20 to 30 working days from art approval for the full exhibitor bundle. For exhibitors with shorter notice we run express production at an extra fee. Delivery is five working days before assembly to leave the commercial team margin for per-salesperson kitting and booth distribution.
