Mexican higher-ed runs on four overlapping calendars

Mexico's higher-ed sector operates on four calendars that overlap year-round. The first is the admissions cycle, generally February through July for the August–July academic year, or September through January for the semester-based calendar. Universities publish admission brochures, host program fairs and induction events. The brief covers polos for induction staff, backpacks with the embroidered crest for new students, branded notebooks for the admission kit and folders with the institutional crest for accepted candidates. The second calendar is graduation (May, June and November depending on the calendar): institutional regalia, gifts for honorees, donation receipts when applicable, name plates engraved with the graduate's name and honors. The third is the academic conference cycle — research colloquia, thesis symposia, graduate fairs (PROMEP, SECIHTI, formerly CONACYT), national and international congresses hosted by UNAM, IPN, AMC, ANUIES — where the brief asks for delegate kits with folders, notebooks, pens, USB sticks carrying proceedings, and QR-coded badges. The fourth is philanthropy: foundation drives, alumni giving (Homecoming, Family Weekend), scholarship raffles and silent auctions where merch serves as premium donor gifts.

Corp-Merch.com.mx has supplied Mexican universities and their foundations since 2019. We started by shipping crest-embroidered polos for a Faculty of Sciences induction event; today we deliver graduation regalia for the Class of 2024, admissions polos for incoming freshmen compliant with the institutional brand manual, technical backpacks with embroidered crests for grad students, premium gifts for Tec de Monterrey's Homecoming weekend with declared value and deductible donation receipts, delegate kits with encrypted USB for colloquia and symposia, custom gifts for silent auctions at Fundación UNAM, Fundación Tec de Monterrey, ITAM, Fundación UDLAP, and fundraising material with full compliance under Title III of the CFF for authorized donees. When the institution is a public university (UNAM, IPN, UAM, UANL, BUAP, UV and others), we invoice against the generic public RFC; when it is a civil association authorized to receive deductible donations, we issue the Article 82 donation receipt.

Runs of 12 to 200 pieces per year with rigid gift box and ribbon packaging, quarterly scheduling and per-event CFDI 4.0 invoicing.

Regulatory framework and deductible donations

Mexico's higher-ed sector is subject to multiple regulatory layers. First, invoicing: CFDI 4.0 with 16% VAT broken out, exempt under Article 15 Section IV of the LIVA for books, pamphlets and educational material; 16% VAT applies to textiles, gifts and promotional material without direct educational value. When the university is a public body (UNAM, IPN, UAM, UANL, BUAP, UV), we invoice under the generic public RFC. Second, authorized donee status: under Title III of the CFF and Articles 27 and 82 of the LISR, universities authorized to receive deductible donations can issue a donation receipt that the donor (individual or legal entity) deducts from ISR. The receipt must comply with Annex 2 of the current RMF and state the amount donated, the date, the intended use (scholarships, research, infrastructure, equipment) and the donor's RFC. Third, fiscal compliance for revenue-generating academic events: when the congress charges registration, the university or organizing civil association must issue CFDI for registration and, if there is an additional donation, separate them into two CFDIs to preserve deductibility.

Corp-Merch.com.mx issues CFDI 4.0 with 16% VAT broken out (ingreso type, or egreso type for credit notes), adds Carta Porte 3.0 when the shipment changes domicile on the same delivery day, archives XML and PDF for seven years per Article 30 of the CFF, and supplies the donation receipt on request, complete with the Annex 2 RMF requirements. For universities with international programs (Tec de Monterrey, UNAM collaboration programs, ITAM, Anáhuac, UP) we run a Spanish–English workflow: brief confirmation in both languages, prototype signed by the global brand team when applicable, and international shipping to US campuses (Tec de Monterrey Miami and other associate schools) or Europe. For purely national universities we issue CFDI in pesos, bill multiple recipients when the program spans campuses, and consolidate deliveries to the central warehouse or directly to each campus with prior appointment.

Pricing, MOQ and turnaround — higher education

All prices in MXN before VAT. 16% VAT broken out on CFDI 4.0, or exempt under Article 15 Section IV of the LIVA for books and educational material. When the recipient is an authorized donee and the donation is deductible, we issue the donation receipt without VAT. MOQ starts at 200 pieces for crest-embroidered apparel, 30 sets for delegate kits, 30 pieces for premium philanthropy gifts. Institutional runs (2,000+ pieces) unlock volume pricing and annual scheduling with cohort-by-cohort commitment. Standard turnaround: 10 to 15 business days for admissions runs with crest embroidery; 6 to 10 weeks for graduation regalia with personalized embroidery; 3 to 5 weeks for congress kits with bespoke packaging; 3 to 5 business days for rush restocks at +30%. Consolidated delivery to campus or multi-campus per the university calendar.

For the August 2026 intake, we book a window with Servicios Escolares or the Registrar's Office between January and March to lock in volumes, the institutional brand manual and size curves, and we ship between July and August so the Admissions team has time to label each uniform with the student ID number and file the CFDI copy in the student's file.

FAQ — higher-ed merch

Do you comply with the university's brand manual?

Yes. We work from the institutional brand manual from the first brief. We replicate corporate colors, official typography, crest placement and embroidery or print rules defined by the Identity Office. When the manual requires certified materials (GOTS organic cotton, GRS recycled polyester), we select the textile supplier with the matching certification.

Can you issue a deductible donation receipt?

Yes. When the university or foundation is an authorized donee under Article 82 of the LISR, we issue a donation receipt meeting the Annex 2 RMF requirements. The receipt states the amount donated, the date, the intended use (scholarships, research, infrastructure) and the donor's RFC. We invoice separately the donation amount (no VAT) and, where applicable, the commercial-spend amount (with VAT).

Do you deliver to multiple campuses in one order?

Yes. We deliver to UNAM (Ciudad Universitaria, faculties, FES, ENES, institutes), Tec de Monterrey (more than 30 campuses in Mexico), UAM (five units), IPN (main and satellite units), Universidad de Guadalajara (CU and university centers) and others. We coordinate with Acquisitions for a prior appointment at each campus, present CFDI per site and consolidate Carta Porte when applicable.

Do you produce gowns and mortarboards for graduation?

Yes. We deliver gowns and mortarboards in institutional colors (black with faculty-colored tassel), honor stoles, name plates engraved with graduate's name, degree and class year, medals and class rings when the alumni association orders them. Runs of 200 to 8,000 pieces with 60 to 120 days lead time, per-event invoicing and traceability by student ID.

Do you invoice multiple RFCs for inter-campus programs?

Yes. We invoice separately per recipient when the program requires it (each faculty, each institute, each site). We handle up to 30 RFCs in a single order when the program spans campuses, with CFDI 4.0 per site and consolidated Carta Porte when material moves from the workshop to a central warehouse and then redistributes.
