Colima is the capital of Colima state — one of the country's smallest entities but with a relevant economic activity. The city keeps a historic centre with Portal Hidalgo, the Plaza de Armas, the smaller Cathedral Basilica, the Regional History Museum and the university zone where the Universidad de Colima (UCol) campus stands out, with more than 25,000 students.
