Salon N-5: the room where the CTO signs the PoC and the developer swag lands before the live demo

Salon N-5 sits inside one of the product demo complexes in the Polanco, Roma Norte and Santa Fe tech hubs of Mexico City: a room with an 8K screen, lecterns for the guest CTO and the product manager, a 4K live demo workstation with redundant uplink, a holding foyer for working coffee overlooking the interior patio, a dumbwaiter from the hub kitchen, and an independent access door for the camera crew when the demo is streamed live. This is where the product showcases of Y Combinator-W21 startups run, where the implementation kickoffs of corporates integrating SAP or Oracle take place, where the banking CTOs sit through demos, and where the scaleups with Bajio expansion plans present their roadmaps. What separates Salon N-5 from a generic demo theatre is the logistical order: the developer swag enters before the live demo, exits with per-attendee sign-off at close, and respects the photography limits of the unannounced roadmap.

Salon N-5 logistics, access and custody

Salon N-5 runs on a freight dock shared with the hub operations area: the lateral dock accepts 3-ton trailers within restricted hours, and the 1-ton box truck has its own ramp under permanent surveillance. Pedestrian freight access requires prior ID, the hub credential and a logbook signature from the operations area; there is no informal access and no entry through the main door. The hub operations staff delivers the developer kit with visible ID and credential, and handles restocking during the coffee. Salon N-5's back-of-house has three areas: the demo holding foyer (where the kit is staged), the live demo room (where the remaining merch sits in sealed boxes) and the streaming room (where reserved material is kept under signature).

For demos with international CTO presence (typically from the US, Canada, Europe and Asia), we handle invoicing in USD at the Banco de Mexico FIX rate from the day before the session, with USMCA compliance and support for deduction as Product Marketing or Developer Relations expense in the corporate fiscal close. For demos with market analyst presence (Gartner, Forrester, IDC), we handle compliance with the hub security protocol and the embargo protocol on the unannounced roadmap. The merch chain of custody is documented with signature, time stamp and photo at every checkpoint: dock entry, operations inspection, back-of-house transfer, restocking during the coffee, post-demo pickup.

Salon N-5 confidentiality, compliance and restrictions

Salon N-5 enforces operating rules the merch must respect: no merch with noise or distraction elements (developers wear headphones to follow the demo audio), no large backpacks or bags inside the room (attendees leave their personal effects in the holding foyer), no POP material carrying competitor logos (frequently requested by startups), no outside food or beverages beyond the hub catering service, no non-uniformed personnel in the back-of-house during the session. For sessions that require limited-edition merchandising (numbered product anniversary t-shirt, book signed by the guest blog author, paperweight stamped with the release year), we coordinate with the hub operations team to ensure the piece clears the security protocol, the embargo protocol and the broadcast protocol when the demo is streamed externally.

For SAT invoicing we issue CFDI 4.0 with the 16% IVA breakdown and support for deduction as Product Marketing, Developer Relations or Research and Development expense depending on how the merch is used. For startups with IMMEX operations or US exposure we handle complementary invoicing in USD with the foreign trade complement and USMCA compliance when the developer kit crosses the border as part of the welcome material for the remote developer in the US. For scaleups with dual listings, we handle bilingual (es/en) invoicing and USMCA compliance. Merch is delivered with carta porte 3.0 when interstate or international transit applies, with the foreign trade complement when applicable, and with the payment complement when the corporate pays in instalments.

Salon N-5 MOQ, pricing and reservations

Developer kit — from USD 128 per piece before VAT at a 60-piece run. Staff merch — from USD 110 per person at a 10-piece run. Guest CTO hospitality — from USD 146 per piece at a 6-piece run. Early adopter recognition — from USD 472 per piece at a 4-piece run. Pricing does not include the Salon N-5 rental, which is quoted directly with the hub operations area depending on the day, the hours, the technical setup and additional services (catering, working coffee, audiovisual gear, live demo workstation, streaming room).

For demos on high-demand dates (annual product showcases, SAP/Oracle implementation kickoffs, major release launches) we block the calendar 60 days ahead with a firm written commitment. For demos on low-demand dates we block 30 days ahead. Express production under 14 days carries a +35% surcharge for the curation and dispatch. The reservation runs on a fourteen-point brief: demo date, demo type, developer count, pieces per package, product brand manual, brand colour palette, embargo protocol, freight logistics, post-demo donation, SAT invoicing and USMCA compliance when the merch crosses the border.

Salon N-5 frequently asked questions

Can you deliver the developer kit with a per-attendee signed receipt?

Yes — we deliver the kit with a per-attendee (not per-demo) signed receipt, with the developer's signature, the delivery time stamp and the signature of the uniformed delivery staff. The chain of custody is documented with photos when the hub protocol allows, and the kit stays in a sealed envelope throughout the day for return at the close of the demo.

Can you handle merch for demos that repeat at every major release?

Yes — we run a quarterly cadence with the same brand manual, scaling the run size to the cohort and the special guests (international CTOs, market analysts, standout open source contributors). Coordination with the product manager for the editorial curation of the developer kit.

Can you invoice the merch as Product Marketing expense?

Yes — we issue CFDI 4.0 to the SAT with the 16% IVA breakdown and deduction support as Product Marketing, Developer Relations or Research and Development expense depending on how the merch is used. For startups with international operations we handle complementary invoicing in USD with the foreign trade complement and USMCA compliance.
