Annual report · 7 trends

Mexico corporate merch trends report 2026

The seven trends we see consolidating in the Mexican corporate merch market during 2026: lower-footprint materials, print methods that enable shorter runs, variable-data customization, reusable packaging, fewer-leg logistics, tighter NOM compliance and CFDI 4.0 consolidation as the standard.

Trend 1 · Lower-footprint materials

The first trend we observe is the substitution of conventional polyester by recycled polyester (rPET) in backpacks, bottles and technical textiles. Organic cotton with GOTS certification grows in polos and t-shirts, although still with a 15–25% premium versus conventional cotton. FSC and PEFC certified paper and cardboard replace uncertified material in boxes, labels and tubes. Jute and hemp appear as alternatives in bags and totes for programs with conscious brand positioning.

The Mexican corporate buyer is incorporating the lower-footprint requirement into supplier homologation forms. When you require evidence, we deliver a technical sheet with composition, certifications and origin of the input.

Trend 2 · Methods that enable shorter runs

The second trend is the growth of methods that enable short runs with low effective MOQ. DTF (Direct-to-Film) textile for runs below one hundred pieces with photography or gradients. Rigid sublimation on MDF and ceramic for individual plates and commemorative pieces. Laser engraving with digital setup, no screens or molds. UV-LED on acrylic and wood for signage and recognition. These techniques reduce dependence on traditional screen printing for short runs and improve presentation.

The operational impact is that a program of one hundred pieces with six personalized SKUs no longer requires six separate screen runs: a single DTF run is scheduled with files per SKU and delivered in the same lead time that previously was only viable for long runs.

Trend 3 · Variable-data customization

The third trend is variable-data customization at scale. Embroidery of the collaborator name on polo or jacket. Engraving of collaborator number or seniority on plate. Sublimation of name and date on individual tumbler. USB pre-loaded with the keynote presentation for the speaker. Card with personalized QR pointing to the collaborator microsite or to the welcome portal. The variable can come from the client's HR system, from its CRM or from an Excel file with the correct encoding.

Variable-data customization requires a pilot of five to ten pieces before full production. The pilot validates embroidery weight, engraving contrast, sublimation registration and the correct encoding of special characters (accents, eñes, umlauts).

Trend 4 · Reusable and lower-volume packaging

The fourth trend is reusable and lower-volume packaging. Rigid boxes with personalized ribbon that the recipient keeps and reuses — packaging goes from being a cost to being part of the product. Cloth bags with closure that replace the polyethylene bag. Master packaging without individual packaging when the end recipient is an internal collaborator who receives the piece in internal mail. Labels with QR code pointing to the care manual and the certificate of origin, eliminating the paper brochure.

The cost impact is mixed: reusable packaging raises unit cost by MXN 15–30, but lowers the cost of replacements for damaged packaging and improves end-recipient perception. The decision is made with the client according to the use case.

Trend 5 · Logistics with fewer legs

The fifth trend is logistics with fewer legs. Consolidation of multi-site deliveries in a single carrier with appointment and on-site staff. Cross-docking at the client's distribution center when the end destination is branches or stores. Staggered production against the client calendar to eliminate intermediate warehouse. Use of national logistics carriers with 24–72 hour SLA for main cities. The pandemic left the lesson that long supply chains are fragile; corporate merch in 2026 shortens them.

When the client runs a quarterly program with monthly deliveries, we schedule production against the calendar instead of producing everything in a single batch. Work-in-process inventory belongs to the shop, not the client.

Trend 6 · Tighter NOM compliance

The sixth trend is the tightening of NOM compliance by regulators and by clients themselves. PROFECO has increased verifications of textile labeling and net content in pre-packages. SSA verifies denomination of origin and warning legends on beverages. SE periodically updates the applicable NOMs and publishes new versions in the Official Gazette. Corporate clients with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 demand documented evidence on every delivery, not only at the annual audit.

For clients with their own quality system, we deliver documented evidence per delivery: technical sheet, certificate of origin, shop compliance letter, evidence of the applicable NOM, and 8D format when there is a non-conformity. Documentation is delivered via encrypted email or via the client's document management platform.

Trend 7 · CFDI 4.0 as the standard

The seventh trend is the consolidation of CFDI 4.0 with payment complement and Carta Porte 3.0 as the billing standard. Corporate clients require line-by-line breakdown with SKU, quantity, unit price, 16% VAT and, when applicable, ISR withholding. Carta Porte 3.0 becomes mandatory on shipments with logistics carriers moving pieces with commercial value. The payment complement is used for advance and settlement in multi-year programs.

Our billing operation has been migrated to CFDI 4.0 since 2023 and we maintain continuous update against SAT changes. The receipt is delivered in XML and PDF within 24 business hours of payment or billable event.
