Tabasco Cacao Convention Q2 2026: fine cacao, bean-to-bar chocolate and the Sureste agro-industry, April through June

April, May and June are the quarter when the fine cacao producers of Tabasco — Cárdenas, Comalcalco, Cunduacán — hand over the harvest, the bean-to-bar chocolatiers finish their limited-edition bars for the second half, and the regional agro-industry closes contracts with Nestlé México, Cémoi and the bean-to-bar industry growing out of Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. The Cacao Convention is the event where that value chain is signed: producers, cooperatives, processors, distributors and corporate buyers spend three days on cupping agendas, business matchmaking and the best-cacao-of-the-year award. We produce the producer and chocolatier merch with a Tabasco cacao motif, consolidated delivery to Villahermosa and CFDI 4.0 invoicing for the Mexican operation.

How Q2 plays out across the cacao-to-bar chain

The cacao calendar sets the agenda for the Convention. The main harvest of fine cacao in Tabasco runs November to March, with fermentation and drying extending into April; the first cuppings of the new harvest happen in May, and the limited-edition bars are launched in June at the Convention. The producers attending are not the same as the Monterrey corporate buyer of the harvest: the Convention sets a common table where the Tabasco producer sits with the Mexican bean-to-bar master, with the bean-to-bar industry buyer and with the European importer closing the shipment to Hamburg, Lyon or Antwerp.

The merch we deliver at the Convention splits between two very different audiences. For the producers and cooperatives — who travel on tight budgets and need merch useful during the harvest — we produce palm caps with adjustable closure, combed-cotton polos with a cacao motif, 600 ml thermoses with the farm name engraved, and waxed-canvas backpacks rated for field work. For the chocolatiers, cupping masters and international corporate buyers the bundle steps up: cupping notebook with parchment sheets, cupping kit with numbered jars, gift box with a limited-edition bar and a card carrying the farm data.

The Convention is typically invoiced in MXN with 16% IVA to SAT. For European importers and for chocolatiers with US parents we run the payment complement in USD at the Bank of Mexico exchange rate of the day. When the buyer is an IMMEX chocolatier based in Cárdenas we run the pedimento with their customs broker.

Cost and operation for the Tabasco Cacao Convention

The standard per-producer bundle starts at MXN 890 before IVA for runs of thirty to fifty producers. For runs of eighty producers it drops to MXN 760. The overall MOQ is thirty producers; cooperatives with fewer than thirty are quoted with an extra fixed fee for the per-farm kitting complexity.

For international buyers we run the payment complement in USD or EUR at the Bank of Mexico exchange rate of the day with the matching audit trail. For IMMEX buyers based in Cárdenas we run the pedimento with their customs broker.

Lead time is 20 to 30 working days from art approval for the full Convention bundle. For cooperatives with shorter notice we run express production at an extra fee. Delivery is five working days before assembly to leave the producer margin for per-farm kitting and cupping-hall distribution.
