Q1 2026 onboarding in Mexico: the welcome kit that opens the working year for new hires

The first quarter is, by far, the period of greatest positive turnover in Mexican companies. Once the December aguinaldo has been paid out, year-end collaborators convert their year-end bonus to liquid and many decide to pursue a new role between the second half of January and the first week of March. For Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and Internal Communications teams, that means designing and delivering a welcome kit that communicates employer brand, values, logistics and belonging from day one. At Corp-Merch.MX we produce the complete onboarding chain for companies in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Puebla, Mérida, León, Tijuana and Cancún — from the individual package the new hire receives on day one to the materials for the corporate induction programme that HR delivers in the first week. CFDI 4.0 invoicing with 16% VAT, deductible as payroll, training or internal communications depending on the destination of the item.

Q1 onboarding calendar for the Mexican market

The Mexican Q1 concentrates three intake peaks: the second half of January (post-aguinaldo), the first half of February (end-of-year search wrap-up and HR budget kick-off), and the second half of March (intakes that fit the April–March fiscal year used by many companies, especially under theIMMEX programme). Companies with annual programmes lock the production of the onboarding kit between 15 November and 20 December of the previous year to secure capacity in apparel, gifts and seasonal items before the December peak. For companies that contract the programme in early January we offer an express run of 21 to 28 business days at an 18%–25% surcharge for the rush.

At Corp-Merch.MX we coordinate the complete onboarding production with a single production lead per client, a delivery calendar by intake wave, inventory control by office and by seniority, individual packaging with welcome card when applicable, and delivery to corporate offices or directly to the new hire's home in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Puebla, Mérida, León, Tijuana and Cancún. For corporates with operations in the United States or Canada under USMCA we handle international shipping through the client's customs broker, with delivery coordinated to the new hire starting at a cross-border office. For companies with anIMMEX programme in the northern border we handle deduction when the kit is tied to retention of plant technical staff. Invoicing is issued in Mexican pesos at the Banco de México exchange rate of the day; for corporates with a foreign parent we also invoice in USD or EUR with daily conversion.

Curation by seniority and intake type

The curation of the onboarding kit depends on the level of the role and the sector. For executives and senior managers onboarding in Q1 (VP, director, regional director), we curate premium gifts between MXN 5,500 and 18,000: Tumi or Samsonite travel case, Garmin or Apple Watch smartwatch, leather executive desk set, premium tequila or mezcal gift box. For middle management (managers, sub-directors, senior coordinators), we curate gifts between MXN 2,500 and 6,500: technical backpack, premium hydration kit, executive desk set, gourmet basket. For operations and administration (analysts, assistants, front-line roles), we curate gifts between MXN 850 and 2,200: thermos, hydration kit, personal tech kit, personalised gift with logo.

The process kicks off with a working session with HR, Internal Communications, Employer Brand and Procurement, where we define the expected monthly intake, the average seniority, the cities for delivery, the budget per band, the production timeline and the corporate colours or materials. Final curation closes between 5 and 25 January for the first Q1 block. For companies with anIMMEX programme in the northern border we keep inventory in our Tijuana or Ciudad Juárez warehouse for technical plant staff intake. Invoicing is issued with CFDI 4.0, 16% VAT, deductible as Payroll, Training or Internal Communications depending on the destination of the item and the retention programme.
